I went back in at 29, and I got activated yesterday for USAF security forces!!
by the way Gary Owen!! I was a huey crew chief in the 5/117 Cav. !!!!! |

With prior service it goes up a pretty good bit, I went to ANCOC with a guy that served 2 tours in Nam, then got out for 19 years and got back in when his sons joined.
He was killing commies before I was born, now we are pretty much doing the same thing. |

Where did ya find a 19D slot in the Reserve? I thaught the Gaurd had all those sewn up.
Actual combat units in the Reserves are getting rare, the Natioanl Gaurd has 99% of em now. We sweat it out every year at my unit when the time for cutbacks rolls around again. |

what part of SC are you in?
If you don't mind driving, We have slots in my unit, and it is a damm fine Combat Engineer company. We have guys driving from Columbia, Raleigh, Charlotte and others to come to Asheville because they want to stay in the unit. A good sized crew always stays over on the Sat nights (when we don't go to the field) to shoot the sh@t and drink a few beers. We have compainies in the upsate as well, but trust me when I say it is worth the drive. We are undergoing a MTOE change that has brought us or will shortly bring us the new rubber tracked earthmovers, thermal weapon sights, Javelin missles, MK-19's, and many other goodies. We are going light, very light in our heavy equipment. We have 12B slots open, and you will train as a Combat Engineer and do Combat Engineer tasks, not get stuck doing other junk. If you are interested, 828-254-1279 is the unit number, we have a full time guy in house who handles prior service enlistments. I'm in Spartanburg, so the drive is no problem. I told the recruiter that I would drive up to 100 miles, as long as it was combat arms, either Infantry or Armor.

I am a college student, and i am so pissed right now that i could shave my long hair off and march right down to the Marine Corps recruiting center right now--that's a bad sign for me considering how much i dislike the organized military. but i ain't gonna be no damn long haired hippy war protester if it comes to that. by the way, i am also Syrian...

I am glad to see that Patriotism is not dead, at least among this board, I am a Combat M.P. in the National Guard and am currently on standby, I joined on Sept 1999, after a 16 year gap in service, I was formerly with the 7th Infantry Div. Ft. Ord CA.

We have a company in Spartanburg, but trust me, drive to Asheville, it's well worth it! I'll buy the beer your first Saturday night!
We are one of only 2 Corps Combat Light Engineer Bn's in the Army, when the Armor and Infantry guys run into something they can't get past we come foward and take care of it for em. We were set up to be able to support airborne and air assault engineer assests when they run into jobs they cannot handle with thier internal assests. |
