No Tom Petty in a while
Link Posted: 8/30/2015 5:47:01 PM EDT
Off blazing a joint no doubt.

His stuff is spotty these days.

That song he wrote after the riot's was a real barn-burner....

Still enjoying the last dance with Mary Jane.

I like the song "good enough" off a recent record.

I think he does shows still.

I remember sitting in HS chemistry class and hearing about Petty for the first time.

Tom Petty is an American Treasure!
Link Posted: 8/30/2015 6:49:58 PM EDT
I remember my old man looking at a picture of Tom Petty (he had no idea who Petty was) and said, "that guy looks like he could eat beans out of a ketchup bottle."

I've never been able to look at poor old Tom without thinking about that remark.

Link Posted: 8/30/2015 6:57:03 PM EDT
I like how he'd always go to a dive bar in Gainesville the night before a show and do a freebie for his hometown.
Link Posted: 8/30/2015 6:57:15 PM EDT
Meh at best
Link Posted: 8/30/2015 6:58:07 PM EDT
Just a face in the crowd.

That is an awesome slam, but what does it mean? Lol

I like Tom Petty. I also like the what he said about the current state of pop music, when they were inducted into the RRHoF.

Don't ask for a quote, but he's said some real commie-like shit over the years.

My personal favorite

Another great one

I asked my wife if we have a son can I name him Thomas Earl, she declined

I thought he was okay when I was in high school.  I wouldn't walk across my street now to see him live.

Tom Petty's daily routine;

Get up
Smoke pot
Go back to bed

The man's life is proof that pot smoking makes you a unmotivated liberal.

Good albums, great shows. Whenever I hear him on the radio I instantly think of "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" and my own time at HS.

This may get me flamed, but I do like "Free Fallin'".

Kind of like the old saying"She looks like she could suck a golf ball through a garden hose"?

I'm a fan. Given his perpetually laid back demeanor, I was surprised at how energetic he was live - really a great showman on stage.

I don't know. I was kinda picturing something like this, but I can't wrap my head around it.

I think it was a reference to Tom's rather narrow face and maybe slightly buck teeth, you know, like he could get his face in a ketchup bottle.

+1 He most recent shark jump is when he said he regrets using the battle flag
in the late 70s.  Honestly, I was shocked he even REMEMBERED any part
of that decade.

I can't stand his voice.  He sounds like he has a permanent stuffed up nose when he sings.
