An apparently, 30 is the age that the human body (mine, anyway) starts to fall apart. In the past year, I have developed arthritis in: my right hand, right shoulder, and both knees. I find myself taking naps in my recliner in front of the TV (oddly enough, I never called it "my" recliner until recently, either). I took a minor spill off my bike at work last week, and have been feeling joint aches in my lower body since (I actually make that old man groaning sound when I get up out of a chair).
This evening, I had three beers with my birthday dinner, and had a hard time finishing the third one cause I actually felt "drunk".

Why has the phrase "When I was your age . . . " suddenly crept into my conversations with those younger than me?

And do these kids really have to listen to that crap they call music so damn loud?

Aw, fuck it. I'm still a little tipsy, and I'm going to bed. It's way past my bedtime.

You're right about feeling the effects of age at 30 for the first time. I'm turning 31 later this month. Yay.

One of my co-workers gave me Logan's Run on tape last year for my 30th birthday.

At this rate, I'm not sure I would run!

I'm 58 and naturally have some arthritic symptoms. For some years I used a glucosamine and chondroitin complex 3X daily with reasonable results. Recently I have started using sam-E 1X daily along with the GC. My hands no longer hurt in the morning. They are available from a bunch of different manufacturers so buy from wherever it suits you and gives you the best deal.
Now for those dickless little weasles who think I'm spamming, blow me douche bag! These products are available from a dozen sources, none of which know me or pay me jack shit. Sometimes someone is just trying to help someone else, using their own experience as a guide.

Amen! They are all good products (if you have a good source, anyway ;)

I'd also suggest Omega 3's and if you don't want to do ANY of that... at LEAST eat more jello! ;)

(But the omega 3's are anti-imflamatory which tends to be a problem w/arthritis ;)

I'm going to be 40 in a few months and my body is in fine shape. This is the first year in my life where I've actually had to watch what I eat to maintain my weight. Other than that I'm healthy as a horse. Get some exercise........

Turned 33 on Saturday. I feel it a little worse than I used to but it's nothing I can't manage with 3 Ibuprofens every morning ... Sometimes it takes more, occasionally it takes less.

Edit: Happy Birthday. Sorry I forgot!

Considering that you are now over 30 you are not to be trusted. At least that is what they used to say. I am 33 and I am DEFINATELY not to be trusted, so there may be some truth in it.

Happy birthday.

Nah, that's pretty much the high end of the "bar" in a FEW cases I'd make an exception.... but typically at LEAST 4 years my elder, no more than 15 years my senior. So I guess 53's the cut off... though I THINK I'd make an exception for Judith Light ;)

I am in the best shape I have ever been. I ride my bike a minimum of 20 miles a day, and hit the free weights every other day. For the first time since I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes 4 years ago, I am controlling my blood sugar with diet and exercise only, no medications.

The arthritis in my hands seems to be inherited from my mothers side of the family (my sister has had arthritis problems in her hands since the age of 19). The knee and shoulder are old sports injuries.

Happy birthday. I know how you feel about getting older. IM 26 and had to have knee surgery this summer. Now I have to play it safe and not do anything too physical so I dont damage my knee further. If I crouch I have to do it slow and it hurts somewhat. No big deal though. I guess Im alot more fortunate than others.
