I haven't been in the cigar game long enough to know the difference between mold and plume. I was gifted this cigar from a friend who went to Punta Cana, DR.

I'm leaning towards mold and that I should toss it. Pity

Eta: She is one with the AK's now.

Nope, that's not mold.  That's what is called plume. It happens on properly stored and aged cigars. Smoke it and enjoy...

Looks like mold. I've never seen that on a cigar before.

Eta, huh, read post above mine. Interesting.

I don't think that's mold.

I believe it's called "bloom".

I've smoked cigars like that, no problem.

With a little bleach that mold will come right off so you can smoke it without worry.

You can actually do that with a q-tip and vodka or Bacardi 151 if it's not too bad

If this was a cigar forum everyone would be saying it's plume and smoke away. Who you gonna believe?

Eta damn too slow.

Those are flavor enhancers. Really expensive.  Don't waste it.  Smoke it.

Negative ghostroder, that's mold.  Brush it off and smoke anyway, the stick is fine.

This, but I think you are supposed to wipe it off before smoking.

You're not supposed to wipe off bloom.  That's mold, wipe it off.

As long as the mold is not on the "foot" (open end), it can be cleaned off, however if there is mold ont the open end, the cigar is trash.

lol no it's mold.  Plume does not grow in little colonies.

Definitely mold, but as long as it isn't growing on the foot of the cigar you can just wipe it off the wrapper and smoke away.

Even if it is mold it's not like it's not everywhere already.  Wipe that it off and fire it up would be my course of action had I not given up smoking.

That said, I usually take an old toothbrush and gently brush off the mold and just smoke em.

Yep this is correct.

Plume is a light, whitish layer of fuzz that can develop on cigars as they age in a humidor. Plume doesn't hurt cigars and is actually a sign that they're aging properly.

THAT IS MOLD, but it is white mold.  As long as its not on the foot its good. Wipe it it off with a paper towel then wipe it with rubbing alcohol to kill mold spores.  VERY LITTLE.  THen let it sit out to evaporate teh alcohol for a few hours then humidor for a few days.  GOOD TO GO.

Check this out this is funny, some cigar expert is using an obvious magnification of mold, saying if they look like little lampposts it's plume

Are you sure this wasn't the cigar that was stuck up Lewinsky's twat?

It may have historical value. Put it up on Ebay.

Never use rubbing alcohol on someting that can be ingested.

I'd trash it, especially if there's any on the foot. As much as there is on the wrapper, I'd bet there's some.

Definitely not plume.

I use a paper towel with a little bit of distilled water (barely any dampness).
