My GSD/Lab mix is blowing his coat.

Brushing him and vacuuming doesn’t even help as my efforts are moot within hours.

I swear there is enough fur to make another dog, probably even two.

So how long does the coat blowing season last?

only about 6 months with labs - and those six month periods are only twice a year. nothing to worry about. HA!

no, it's more than that. The shedding has significantly increased the past week, thought there have been no changes in his diet or anything. I was told he is having the spring coat blowing.

With horses, shedding can be influenced by the amount of light they are exposed to.
I don't know if dogs are the same, maybe buy him a set of sunglasses.
Get a good comb that removes the loose under coat. Save the sheddings for your soon to have second dog.

Every female GSD I have had would blow her coat before coming into Season.

Sounds normal to me. Some days I can pull clumps of hair off my white GSD bigger than cotton balls.
