First we nuke them.

Then we agree they have no remaining nukes afterward.

My friend and I agree to become billionaires.

Means nothing.
Link Posted: 6/21/2017 10:56:49 PM EDT
OK, so what's N. Korea think about that?
Link Posted: 6/21/2017 11:01:19 PM EDT
This is all just a prelude to a negotiated permanent peace deal between NK, SK, China and the U.S.

We will agree to removing our forward based troops from South Korea and they will give up their nukes. Everyone walks away with something they want. There's not going to be a war break out over this.

That sounds like a deal Obama would have signed.

We pull our troops out, North Korea allows an IAEA inspector to wander around a non-operational facility and pretend to inspect them. A year later, they've got long range missiles and a few dozen warheads, and we've got a deal worth less than a campaign promise.

Brief hypernuclearization ironically enough.

Wake me up when China starts the invasion/airstrikes on the Norks
Link Posted: 6/21/2017 11:16:17 PM EDT
Uhm... not news.  Pretty sure that's been official policy of both for awhile now.  The trick, of course, is that neither the US nor China is North Korea.

China can make it happen.

China is the source of NK food and energy. They turn off the lights and stop the food supply, shit gets bad fast.

The problem is we have not been working with China to make something happen. Now we are.

NK will self report that all nukes are gone. China will verify and the UN will back up the reports.

See now we can trust NK again right?

Easy.  Cut off their umbilical cord.  Without China, they will starve in short order. Maybe the nork military would off him for us, even.

Yea, or there will be a "decapitation" by the Chinese or the U.S., by agreement.

I don't think the Chicoms would object with the proviso that they get to install their puppet after Kim Jong Un is "removed."

I suspect President Trump has already rescinded the (stupid) Executive Order regarding assassinations of US enemies.

China has more to lose than we do if only because of proximity and their weaker than it appears economy.

By threat of annihilation.

ETA: I kind of almost thought that China might "put down their own mad dog" and militarily slit their throats as a show of force to the world, taking them by surprise and crushing them quickly. But that was not happening.

Sorry, I'm With Him.  I may not understand or be brought into the inner circle of everything he does, but he's head and tails above any Bush that's been in office.  Can't even mention the other assholes that brought us to this place.

A stable NK which can feed itself, reduced or eliminated NK refugee flood, which is a big issue to the Chicoms, reduced need to be ready to assist NK in defending itself when they go too far, which is where NK is heading.

They avoid paying for the US-China border wall preventing their exports from reaching the US, or something along those lines.

China could stop sending them batteries and wire.  That should do it.

Just thinking out loud, but tick-tock-tick-tock
Not a matter of if, but when.

Same with Iran

Put enough megatons on target in NK, and Iran might no longer be so interested in their nuclear program.

They're already starving.

They're too starved to revolt.

That leaves rescuing them or killing them, and we damn sure can't rescue them.

I've often wondered if the NORKS, the common folks etc.., are wishing for a war just so they can get rid of their fucked up regime or if the people are so brainwashed and set in their ways that they'd fight to the death to keep the status quo.

Doubtful. Are they more interested in chaos to bring about the 12th imam or something like that?

China has 150k troops on the border with North Korea.   I think they're there to keep the Norks in.

If only we'd thought about this before now...we coulda trained a select group of .mil to conduct forcible seizure of NBC stockpiles. We coulda used dirt runways way out on a massive range, and flown in with some kind of heavily modified cargo planes full of heavily armed guys with in full containment suits who had to land, load and fly back out in complete blackout, possibly with a fight raging around them, using a bunch of really cool toys.

Nah, nevermind. That's a silly idea.

How 'bout this...we could build some kind of futurist bomber that's almost invisible, and then load these bombs on board that can penetrate way, way deep into solid rock before detonating...then we could actually keep our pie-holes shut for once and clobber the motherfuckers out of the clear blue...

No, the peasants are starving.

The ones with the guns are not.

Starve the entire country.  Cut off supplies.

The military will revolt. The peasants will join.

A Chinese General will call a North Korean General and tell him to put a bullet in Little Kim's head or else. If he says no he will call another North Korean General to do the same but also put a bullet in the first Generals head too, and so on until you get a taker.
