I just placed an order for a Tikka T3 Hunter in .243 for a new pig gun.  It has a 1MOA garuntee and a DBM.  It looks nice and cost $530.00.  I ordered it from Impact Guns who have given me good service in the past.  Just wanted to see what the hive mind thought of this rifle.  It will be scoped with a Leopould 4.5X14X40 scope.

That's a very nice rifle for the price. You should be happy. I would have chosen a larger caliber for a pig gun. But enjoy.

BadSVT just put one together for his dad for Xmas.

I did some trigger work on a buddys Tikka and am relly impressed with them, I believe beretta owns them? Anyways this sucker was dead on at 200 yards with hand loads we didnt shoot any farthur because that is all the range offered for distance but yeah they are nice guns IMHO

This one is going to my grandfather.  It will be used inside of 200 yrds almost always unless I decide to stretch her legs.  It will only be used on pigs and a occasional deer.  I have also heard that a .243 is quite accurate.

Does the trigger need lightening right away or is it good to go?

I'm not a fan of hunting rifles with light triggers. You're in the field, ya know? As long as it's a reasonable weight and breaks cleanly I'm a happy man.

Wait and see if you think it needs it. I doubt it, but that said my Dad had a Beretta Mako a few years ago, which was a BEAUTIFUL rifle but for whatever reason the trigger SUCKED. It was an anamoly.

I think there were some kabooms with the ss tikkas awhile back.  Barrels split into thirds.

ouch

They took care of it. Shit happens. Don't let something that happened in the past ruin your perception of a firm. They owned up to it and made it right.

I got a Tikka T3 Lite in .22-250 about three years ago. I love it. I never made any adjustments to the trigger from the factory setting. I am shooting about 0.4 MOA groups with my handloads. My good experience with the T3 has prompted several other members of my predator hunting club to purchase T3s. They all love them too.

SAKO recieved a bad batch of SS barrels IIRC had too much sulfur in them.

I've got the .308 SS Lite, I had a gunsmith cut the barrel down to 18"... Good gun, accurate too, for the money.

I'd like to get any Finnish rifle in the future.

The rifle is great.  My grandfather loved it and it was a blast to shoot.  I only shot one group on paper and it was just under an inch.  At 200 yrds I was consistently hiting a 3 inch steel plate.  It is a great gun.
