Yeah.

It's actually pretty easy for me also.
I'm planning on hitting the wagon at the end of this month (as I do every year) to get ready for summer pool weather.
I go on the wagon at the end of May and stay on it till the end of October (except for the occasional birthday party) then get ready for the holiday drinking feasts...
Link Posted: 5/4/2015 7:33:00 PM EDT
Good on you. The longest I went was 10 weeks last year as part of a weight loss plan.

I did 3 months straight because of medication. It was a very boring 3 months.

45+ days in a row of drinking

Wow, keep it up for two more days and that's as long as what's called a "work week" for people who don't work 6 days.

June 30th will be my one year mark, after very close to 40 years of drinking. Should have done this 39 some odd years ago.

In the 38 or so years I've been drinking, the only time I've gone more than a few days without a drink was the 9 weeks I was in basic training.

Today is Monday, "Dry Out Day". It sucks.

Nobody likes a quitter

Just kidding: you can definitely do it.

I drank heavily for a long time. I started doing it because of nightmares and flashbacks I was having. Then it became something I needed before going to bed.

To a certain extent, my friends were enablers. We were all in it, drinking together, saying that alcoholism is when you drink alone.

After taking a new job in a different town, it dropped off, and I began to realize I didn't need it anymore.

I rarely drink now. I find that even though I don't seem to be impaired, my patience isn't nearly what it usually is.

You should drink if it makes you spell better.

I spent nearly a third of my life drunk. I'm 36. I still drink, the difference is I can stop without getting passed out drunk. At my worst I would get a fifth and be passed out in 20 minutes, didn't matter where I was at. It takes more then three days to feel better. Hell in three months you will feel better then you have in ten years.

Congats. It will be harder the second week. You and I must have the same genetic makeup.

The ability to consume a lot of booze with little to no hangover or withdrawal.

It is not something to brag about but a curse from our Irish/German ancestors.

You've quit drinking entirely? "Do you take me entirely for a whig, sir?"

Norwegian/German/Anglo Saxon mix here. I concur. I drink often but not much at a time. just enough to get a buzz, but apparently that amount for me is overdoing it for others.
Now that I've been heavily back into brewing I'm sampling, testing, tasting one or two daily from each batch

We're you drinking daily or binging? What volume were you consuming? Why did you stop?
Link Posted: 5/4/2015 8:41:56 PM EDT
I haven't had anything to drink in over a month now. I don't feel any better and haven't lost any weight. I guess I wasn't drinking enough.

Expand on what you mean by 'one or two daily' for our heritage if you would...

If your just getting a buzz I'm curious about your bodyweight and the liquid volume. I've noticed as my
age and weight has progressed its taken more for me to feel anything

For whatever reason you chose not to drink, I wish you the best of luck with it.

-Just remember that, for whatever reason, you got tired enough of drinking that you chose to stop doing it. Ponder on that before you take it back up.
