Those little green bibles have turned into a pile of 12 little green bibles after 4 years of college. Truth is, after watching about half of the people in front of me practically run away from the guys handing them out or completely ignoring them, I felt obligated to take one and thank them. Since I obviously don't need 12 extra bibles, what should I do with them? Are there places to mail them or charities that need them or what?

Bibles are good stuff! Maybe the troops in the sandbox could use them? i don't know if the military issues them. Try the Gideons maybe?

Edited to add: Contact Brian Sain. He has a great program running for snipers in the box.

keep one and give the rest to freinds or even strangers.
P.S. read the one you keep

Gideons editions. Guaranteed to make you cross-eyed. Get it. Yuk yuk.

The Gideons give them out like crazy. Take them to a local church and give them to the head honcho. He'll find good homes for them.

Keep one for yourself, though....

Gideons, they give them out at high school graduation, college graduations, guns shows, and hotel rooms. Go figure.

Pay it forward.

Send them to a hospital or nursing home in a poor area.

I would send them to a VA hospital first.................

Thanks for all the good ideas guys. I've got a full size version for myself, so I can give all the sub-compact models to anyone who needs them.

What translation are they anyway? I don't think they're King James or NIV or such. I always thought of them as mystery translation.

Gideons...are they the ones that put them in Hotel rooms?

Yes, all over the world where they are allowed to.

I assumed the one I got at MEPS was a combat-ready bible for the killer.

It DID have camoflauge on it...

I got one my freshmen year......and every single other time they tried to hand me one, I politely told them that I already had one, thank you, and that there would be better uses for them than for me to hoarde multiple copies. Each and every time they've thanked me and wished me a good day.

When I get sent to Iraq I'll be taking about a dozen with me.

Leave one at every kill. I'm also gonna Write JESUS SAVES, I KILL on my helmet.

I got one at meps, camo. That thing was in my pocket or ruck for most of basic. Its better than
reading your SMARTBOOK (soldiers manual) all the time.

Plus I like Jesus.

They actually give out camo bibles at MEPS?

MIxed feelings are what you have when your young daughter comes home in the wee hours with a Gideon bible under her arm.....

My Grandmother gave me one when I was a little kid, and wrote something in the front of it. I have been looking for it for years with no luck......

Got one last year; they had about a dozen guys all over campus handing them out one day.

If I'm not mistaken, though, don't they just have the Gospels, not the entire Bible? Maybe they hand out different types.

Yup Ive got about 3 green ones, and 5 camo ones. piles and piles. one got rained on and melted though.

Mostly they are the New Testament only. Fitting the whole Bible into a book that small would be quite difficult.

Several groups hand out Bibles, but the most famous and prolific is the Gideons.

So they covered all the really important parts.

I joined the local Gideon group about 6 months ago. They print KJV and NKJV. Most of the ones I see are the NKJV. The green ones are for college students. There are several other colors, a different color for each group that the Gideons give bibles to. I like the camo ones but I havn't been able to get any yet.
