The township just repaved the road outside of our neighborhood.

Time comes to stripe the shoulder.

There is a dead squirrel on the shoulder, right in line with the paint machine.

What would you do?

Anybody with a good work ethic would have MOVED the dead squirrel.

Not these guys......they turned off the machine and restarted after a couple of feet.

I know this looks like a centerline shot, but it is not, it is the shoulder stripe.  The squirrel used to be smack in the middle of the space, but got nudged over.

Hey, did you ever think that they might be energy camels.

eta - I paint roads.

I would have picked up the squirrel, bitten a chunk out of it, and then spit that chunk at one of the guys I was working with.

Or, I might have just kicked it out of the road.

There was a branch in the road near my place when they restriped.  They WENT AROUND IT!!!  Yes, with the paint still on the machine swerved into the middle of the lane to go around a small branch that would have been easily picked up or even kicked off to the side.

They only get paid to paint the line not to move dead animals....You'll have to start paying more taxes if you want them to do that!

This is all kinda odd, since back when I lived in St. Louis I had a friend that worked for the city and ALL HE DID, ALL DAY, 5 DAYS A WEEK, 8 HOURS A DAY was drive city streets to pick up road kill. Him and a helper (Union, after all). If someone called in to say that little Frisky from across the street got pancaked, he'd get dispatched to it.

I guess maybe in this day of budget cuts, trying to reduce unions downsizing and all, cities can't afford this "luxury" anymore.

What are you griping about. They saved the taxpayers $10 worth of paint.
I sure figured they painted the squirrel.
