I don't buy it. DU has been talking about this tinfoil hat conspiracy for months now. Of course if I'm wrong, it's not like I'll be upset that we've got the bastard in custody. As far as politics or showmanship, I'd say good politics. What's the harm in delaying the announcement that we have OBL in custody? If anything it could play to our advantage fighting other terrorists such as Zarqoui (sp?). |

Yup, he lives down the street. He must get released during the day to work because I've seen him at the corner convenience store. He always jokes about how he never met anyone taller than him. I've got at least an inch in height on him. Nice guy except for the whole terrorist thing he's into.

Longer than that! Every time a bad guy gets picked up by the US (like ol' "Spidey Hole" Hussein) or killed they make it sound like the US had them in custody and trotted them out in front of the cameras for Bush's political gain. |

And exactly how many people does it take to pull off a conspiracy like this? Bare minimum 50. Guards, Captors & up and down the chain of command. Now add in all their very best friends and wives & buddies and you expect everyone to keep their piehole shut? The only way something can stay a secret if mroe than one person knows it is if the other person is dead. |

If tey say it and they "happen" to "find" Bin Laden during the election they can turn it into a big conspiracy... if he doesn't turn up between now and 02 Nov then nothing will happen. Nobody will go after the people spreading this rumors and punish them for it. It's just disappear.
Odds are, even if they did have him in custody, this rumor has been floating around long enough that it would be stupid to go through with the "look who we found just in time for election" plan. If they had any sense, they;d simply kill his ass and show the world his head separated from his body. If he had an control over terrorist cells we'd have picked it up through the various forms of traffic that our intel community monitors. But he obviously doesn't and therfore serves no purpose to us alive. They should have done the same thing to Saddam, but the media pretty well ruined any chances of that... |

I also heard that they have ABU MUSA AL Zarkawi (2nd highest Al Queda Shit-head) in custody in Iran and are negotiating a trade for some Irani ambassadour captured in Iraq.

HOUSE ARREST? His ass would be in Gitmo and he's be in solitary. I doubt he'd get house arrest. As a matter of fact I sort of doubt he'll survive the "capture". If he isn't allready goo in the bottom of a cave.

Though it would be good news if UBL were dead or in custody... I doubt that he could be held "secretly"... just think about it. Surely some trooper somewhere would spill the beans... heck, the news might break here on this site with photos being posted! Now, perhaps he's dead and his DNA has been confirmed, and the lab has it underwraps till next month....

I have thought for a long time about this. What would happen if we caught Bin Laden and announced it to the world? Most Americans would think that the global war on terrorism was over. They would call for our troops to come home. The democraps would scream and holler. I think that if we did catch him and we have had him all this time, why not use it as an ace in the hole for relection? What would be so wrong about that? We are still fighting terrorism. As long as the world thinks Bin Laden is free, then we can continue to kill those terrorists bastards.
