I'm just filled with questions tonight [:)]  I am thinking about refinishing the stock on this rifle.

Its a Model 70 Compact Classic that was manufactured in 1971.  Before I start any work I want to make sure that I'm not going to decrease the value of the rifle.  Does anyone know if refinishing will decrease value?

The stock looks fine to me.....and so do the chalupas!

It's not a particularly valuable rifle as of right now.  But I've found that unless the rifle is pitted and ugly it isn't really a good idea to refinish it.  [i]Aged gracefully[/i] and dragged-through-a-field-of-metal-files, acid-drenched, broken-stocked, bent-up, dropped-from-a-three-story-building, butt-ass ugly are two VERY different things.  I like my weapons to get honest finish wear and the occasional little ding or scratch on the stock over the years, but that's me.

Do whatever will make you happy dude, it's not a valuable rifle (to the blue book, sentiments aren't factored in of course).
