Actually I was thinking about a break down 10-22 but this might be the way to go.9mm uses Glock mags folds down to 16".Anybody have one? This could be a great bug out gun.

Good luck finding one without getting scalped, CDNN has been out for months.

I still kick myself for selling mine. Great little gun. Stupid simple, fits in a laptop case, dead reliable and pretty accurate. That said, get the trigger shoe thingie for it-the stock trigger will kill your finger. And make sure you get the one that uses Glock magazines. I had one that used S&W mags and it was nowhere near as reliable.
Link Posted: 10/4/2012 2:43:34 PM EDT
I have one that takes glock 17 mags.

One of my favorite guns! It's accurate out of the box (remember it's still a pistol cal so don't expect to be hitting plates at 250 yards) reliable, and is frankly a cool concept.

Don't pay more than 450 but I'll tell you it's on my no sell list.

I have the 40 S&W glock mag sub2k. Nice little gun but I want to sell it to fund a K22 S&W

Yep. Not a pretty gun, but functional, and easy to hit a 12x12 steel plate at 100 with the plastic sights they have on them.  If you do find one, order some extra plastic front sight inserts from kel tec. I ended up cracking one or two trying to sight it in before I figured out how to adjust them properly.

Sure do.  I have one that accepts my Beretta 92 magazines.  The 32 round magazines from Pro Mag seem to function just fine.

Great, reliable gun. I have one that takes my G22 mags.
I also have another on order through the local fun shop...they are allocated to the shops so you either 1) gotta get lucky or 2) go put $25/$50 down to get your name on a list.

They used to (I had one) don't know current availability.

The folding part is cool but the trigger is kinda spongey and I could hardly get my face down tight enough to get a good view of the sights.

My early model had no options for optics , do the newer ones have anything?

You might consider saveing for a AR pistol upper

Link Posted: 10/4/2012 3:52:19 PM EDT
I had one.  I found it wasn't that much easier to shoot compared to a pistol.

My cch doesn't cover it, but it does cover a pistol.  So, I sold the KT.

I'll gladly take a Glock 34 over the folding rifle any day.

It ran fine.  If it's what you want, go for it.

I can't find one anywhere under $500.00

I've got one.   It originally used G17 mags.  I cut it down to use G19 mags.  It's a great gun and goes well w/ my G19C when I travel.   I normally take it, the G19C, half a dozen G19 or G17 mags and 10 - 12 G18 mags when I'm going on a long trip.

I have a feature article on the Sub 2000 in Shotgun News right now........

I bought mine and really like it for its intended purpose, discrete carry.

You could have an OK AR for a little more than that.

If they had a 10mm one it would be cool but i'd be iffy about hold loads in a kel tech

But the AR won't work for discrete carry like a Sub2K will.  It's a good car gun and I can walk into a hotel w/ a small bag that most people would never expect could hold a rifle.   It does a good job of filling a niche.

Link Posted: 10/4/2012 4:51:45 PM EDT
I had one, sold it.  Trigger was crap and didn't like the cheesy plastic sights.  It just didn't feel like something that I'd trust my life to in that situation.  AR's break in half easy enough for me if space is a concern, so I'm going that route instead.  Neat "toy" gun though and was reliable enough though it didn't feel durable.

So have I.  I've got a couple of 7.5" ARs.   They're not as small, as light, and it's not as quick to get one of them ready if you needed it.   Nothing against ARs, but I don't know of anything else that works as well as a Sub2K for a discrete carbine.

What does FIFY mean?

I like the concept, but I've never been able to shoot the thing comfortably. The rear sight is just too low to the receiver  with the cheek weld the  buttstock tube gives you.  If you put one of those sleeves on it it just makes it worse.  The front sight is an easy fix, just cut a pieced of black plastic and swap out that damn orange thing.

If they sold a kit that raised the sights about 3/4" I'd buy another one in a heartbeat.  What it needs is an A-1 style carry handle sight.

$10,000.

I would love one in .357 SIG w/G31 mags
That calib is about as close to a  rifle caliber, save the 5.7 MM, that you can get.

I'll just hang onto my UMP 45 for being discrete for now

anyone like the Hi-Point carbines ???

bought it from a retired officer  g17 model i added rails and a PA red dot , runs perfect and very accurate .

Love mine. Does exactly what it's supposed to do, which includes stowing handily into a backpack.

Ditto.  Mine's a .40 Glock model.  Had not misfed since I got it 6 months and about 750 rounds ago.  Fun to shoot.  I can get a good cheek weld on mine.  The Tacticool tube buffer and Kel-Tec's stock extension made it feel right to me.

The sights are kinda cheap, but they acquire fast, which seems in character with the purpose.

My favorite part is ringing steel at the range for a while, then folding it up and dropping it in the briefcase.  People nearby are all

Hated mine, glad I sold it. Front sight broke, seemed cheap.
Link Posted: 10/5/2012 4:00:09 AM EDT

did you need an extender or was the little amount of barrel exposed after the sight enough?
Link Posted: 10/5/2012 4:10:29 AM EDT
I got shed of the plastic FS and put a AK FS on my G17 gripped S2K. If you choose to keep the plastic FS make you a blade out of a piece of alum. The ones that come with the weapon will crack.

I put together a thin briefcase to store my S2K in. A 15" laptop leather case works great too.

Link Posted: 10/5/2012 4:38:34 AM EDT
i like mine. i keep it in a old RCA video camera case

Link Posted: 10/5/2012 5:03:33 AM EDT
My wife has the .40 S&W version. I have not experienced any mechanical problems. The thing is crude, the cheek weld is not ideal, and the sights are not great. However, I have no problems hitting man sized targets at 100 yards. I enjoy shooting my cast bullet reloads out of it.

I took it on a 6000+ mile road trip with me earlier this year. I think I had  3 magazines with me with Arredondo +4 baseplates. I did not feel undergunned and it was easy to transport in/out of hotels in a tennis racket case.

My GF has one from before I met her, it seems to work well for her. I find the rear sight to be a PITA and the cocking force a little high for a 9mm anything but other than that I think it's pretty good for it's intended use.

You also mentioned the 10-22 takedown, I have one of those and have become quite enamored with it, it would be a better bug out gun choice for me because it suppresses better. You might also look at ARES's RCU-22 if an ultra discrete carbine is something you are looking for.

Ordered a new front sight assembly from Kel-Tec, gunsmith then removed the old one, threaded the barrel, installed an extension and threaded that for the FH mount... And then the new sight went back on over it all to make it lock up just like normal. Lots of other ways of doing things out there, but I wanted to keep the ability to fold it up and snap into place. Sounds awesome with subsonic reloads(and stays subsonic with my RA9B 147gr rounds as well, although a friends 147gr FMJ would occasionally go supersonic for some reason...)
