They are pretty badass too......all kinds of cool optics onboard. 2 of them had to be shot down in '04-05 at VBC in Baghdad because they came loose. A Black Hawk clipped one......had to call in Apaches to shoot one down and I think F-15's to shoot the other? |

These bad boys. Used to scan a large sector for enemy activity.

It was a very moment. I'm sure the pilot had to change his flight suit after that. |

You don't see those "blimps"...
We don't see those blimps. He can go on his way... you can go on your way... Move along...move along... |

Aerial surveillance and electronic observation platform is what I thought. I've seen something about them before.
Looks like my first thought was correct after reading some of the posts. |

I remember when a MAJ(don't recall the name right off hand) on Cp Liberty flew his UH60 right through the cable for one of those things. He got a very small paycheck for a while.

In other news, the sky in Afghanistan turns out to be the exact same shade of grey used on the internet message board, AR15.com. Scientists speculate that the sky may actually be a shade off, but to many, "Arfcom Grey" seems to be the color of the day. Dace, back to you in the studio...

I wonder...
are there any currently serving Naval Aviator's with a dirigible pilot's badge? |
