http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mdGKOgc0q4M The ADS designers fixed the most annoying disadvantages of the bull-pup system: - Bad point of the balance - Hot gasses in the vicinity of shooter's eyes and ears The killing range underwater is about 18-20 meters (at a depth of 20 meters) with special round What you think? Can it replace (fully or partly) regular assault rifles? more: |

Can it replace (fully or partly) regular assault rifles? Have fun with an under-hand rock-the-mag-in magazine change. Killing "underwater range" is retard bait and utterly useless. Like most firearms of Russian design, its a steaming pile of shit for being a newly designed 21st Century weapon that solves no problem other than how to continue to make un-ergonomic "peasant army" weapons that have only one quality which is simplicity, and that aborted TAPCO design of a AK bullpup seems to have royally fucked up the "simplicity" aspect of the same basic Russian design format in place since the Nagant brothers conned the commies into procuring a gas sealed under-powered revolver. |

Oh, well, since I have no idea what they said in that video, I don't know. Looks like a very "Russian" fix. "We have fixed the problem of balance by putting a giant, unwieldy gas piston up front and to keep you from burning your face, we put this giant fucking bar there, so now there's no need to put your cheek on the rifle." |

Utterly useless killing range underwater range? Scuba divers can have a different impression. Have you ever seen Ak-12 prototype ? AFAICS, with AK-12 Izhamsh designers fixed ALL egronomics issues of the AK family. |

I predict we'll still be seeing "new" AK designs 100 years from now.

what is the US equivalent of this? TAPCO + WASR (AquaBump x AIDS) = ADS |

It's claimed that the ADS is "more effective" / "more accurate" than AK-74 with regular 5.45x39 ammo
LuvBUSHmaster, the ADS is nothing to with AK system |

... Utterly useless killing range underwater range? Scuba divers can have a different impression. Is there a single example you are aware of that has specialized underwater units - such as Navy SEAL teams, or their Russian equivalent - demanding weapons that can shoot slightly further underwater? I have not heard of such a thing. I agree that it sounds like a gimmicky marketing claim as opposed to an actual useful innovations. It's like developing a M16/M4 variant, and then bragging about how it can function on the moon, and astronauts/cosmonauts can use it. |

I've seen better looking macaroni art come home with elementary school kids.
There isn't a US equivalent because it's solving a problem no one has. |

But the dual environment gun looks really innovative. |

ADS is based on the A-91 bullpup assault rifle, not AK. Uses the same mags, mag well, mag release, safety lever design, barrel threading, muzzle devices, front sight and rotating bolt system as an AK-103. REAL FUCKING INNOVATIVE!!!!!! But hey, lets add an underwater gas setting!!! That really bit the Russians in the ass when all their AK's jammed underwater in the battle of ATLANTIS! |

why there's such thing was designed in US: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mk_1_Underwater_Defense_Gun |

I dont think it will replace the AK series if that is what you are asking. The Russians have way too much invested in the AK series and they are stocked out the ass with them. They don't have enough money to replace them all. That is part of the reason that most of these new Russian weapons never get off the ground. Think of the AN94 Abakan and the AK12.
But then again, I dont have any first hand knowledge. I get my info off the errornet. Someone else may know more than I. |
