Just for those that are not aware of these facts....here's some "factoids" to share over the water cooler with your libtard friends at work (these stats are as of 2004-not too much different from today)

THE WEALTHIEST AMERICANS:

Top 1% $328,049 (PAY 37% OF THE TAX BASE)

Top 5% $137,056 (PAY 57% OF THE TAX BASE)

Top 10% $99,112 (PAY 68% OF THE TAX BASE)

So you see, when libs talk about taxing "only the wealthy" what they mean is "the people who work for a living". Most of the "wealthiest" people I work with and hang out with struggle to make ends meet. You'd never know I was "wealthy".

Oh, and the bottom 50% of the wage earners (those that make less than $30,122) pays about 3% of the tax base.....BUTS THAT HUGE VOTES FOR THE LIBTARDS....KEEP THE IGNORANT HAPPY BY GIVING THEM MORE WELFARE AND GOVERNMENT HANDOUTS.

edit: Oh yeah, who do you think puts money in this economy?......So who do you think it makes sense to give tax breaks to? That's right....the "wealthy". Because the bottom wage earners don't contribute JACK to this economy!

SECOND EDIT: For those that don't realize it, the libs ultimate goal is to do away with the middle class. They play word games by calling them the "wealthy"

Yup; by liberals elevating the middle class to the catagory of wealthy; they're giving themselves license to tax them to death to pay for the whole shabang.

True very true. And jacking the cost of fuel through the roof is one way to destroy the middle class. The very wealthy socialists in Hollywierd, NY and DC don't care, may not even know exactly how much a gallon costs. The poor get subsidies to help make up for costs of living....these people vote for the libs. The middle class conservative workforce that the socialist libs hate so much are the ones hurt most by the current oil price fiasco.

But the socialist libs really are very shortsighted. In their quest to destroy the middle class and along with the middle class the republican party they fail to realize that once the middle class is gone we will no longer be an economically viable country....we will be another Mexico. And we all know why so many millions of them are coming here illegally...because Mexico is such a great place to live.

Class envy isn't disgusting. It's natural.

i envy those bastards in the top 1% like mad. i envy their vipers and huge gun rooms etc. I hope to be a 1%'er myself someday.

now EXPLOITING class envy, i'm with you, that sucks.

So we have a progressive tax rate that punishes the achieverss. The more you make the more you pay. Seems like the more you make the less you should pay because you are still be paying more, in real dollars, than people who earn less. That would be fair. But even with this punitive, backward assed tax system libs still don't like capitalism. Seems like they would be real happy with the way things are.
But, our lefty friends want change.

I think that time is soon approaching. It truly disgust me to stroke out a check to the IRS every 1/4 knowing that the bulk of that money is going to support ghetto welfare trash that would rather "leach off of the man" rather then have some fucking dignity and make a living for him/herself & our worthless government thinks the appropriate course of action is to encourage this behaviour by throwing more money at them. Hard to imagine our country "turning things around" when this segment of the population is spreading faster (I equate it to a population cancer) then the segment that actually financially supports this cluster-f#ck of a society. Bigger issue is not the current leaches but their kids who will undoubtedly grow up to mirror their piece of shit "parents".

Are the brackets in the OP household incomes or individual? Because if it's household I can't imagine that I'm in the top 10%...

I'd like to see the stats carried down to 50% or so.

If I'm reading this right, anyone making $137,056 or more per year are in the top 5% of wage earners. Wow.

B-Rock is gonna screw us long and hard if he gets in office.

edit: I was making a fraction of what I make now back when Clinton promised to only raise taxes on the WEALTHIEST of Americans... When he got in office guess what, I found out I was "wealthy". Believe me you, I was NOT wealthy by any stretch, and even now when I'm making much more than I was then... i am NOT wealthy and I am LOATHE to give up more of my hard earned dollars so some idiot that voted away MY "hope"steals my "change"...

Household stats.....shocking isn't it?

Most Americans are ignorant. I believe the bible refers to the end times with people who are "willfully ignorant". That means "dumb on purpose".

Trust me, I know.....I laugh at the very idea of the "wealthy" when politicians speak. If I'm so "wealthy" why do me and my wife struggle to live modestly, saving for our kids college, paying the mortgage, paying grocery and fuel bills, not spending extreme amounts of money on "wants" (we still have an old 27" TV)?

Wealthy? Hardly. I still feel blessed for all I have, but the libtards make it sound as if I'm sipping bubbly every day while getting a ride to work in my limo.

Flat tax 10% on income. Nothing else is taxed. Let the Fed, State, Local fight over who gets what out of that 10%. Cut the Federal government budget by 50% and maybe the economy would recover. My wife only makes only $30K a year, the little taxes she pays is a lot when she doesn't make much- she also works her ass off.

The fastest way for the middle-class to become rich is to elect a Democrat.

Bottom line though, I've used these figures with Libs time and time again... and they don't give a shit.

They never let facts cloud their beliefs.

I've never met the Lib that had any use for facts.

(Although, I was once told that "facts" were racist! )

In Calif the politicos are spending more money than the have because, one of the problems of taxing the rich, when the rich get poorer, the state gets poorer. What happened to the everybody pays their fair share?

No, how about 0% income tax?.....Ever read the Consitution? You can't tax earned income. THat's why no court will ever touch the IRS issue. Never mind the fact that the IRS and such was never created legally (that's a whole other thread that would take a while to explain) but it flat out states that income as a result of labor CAN NOT be taxed.

Besides, nearly 100% of income tax goes to pay the interest on our "loans" from the Federal Reserve (a private bank). The Fed and IRS are a crime propagated by our government.

I like to bash libs and dems as much as the next guy, but those stats are from 2004. In 2004 we had a Rep congress and a Rep whitehouse, and had for 3+ years at this point. Were they maybe planning to fix this Robin Hood bullshit at a later date then forgot about it?

eta: I think we know what the Founding Fathers would have said to the idea of an Income Tax.

Liberal definition of wealthy

Working equal wealthy
Employed equal wealthy
Retired and drawing a pension equal wealthy

Not working, drawing welfare, living off social security and nothing else, equals poor.

In other words if you can pay taxes you are wealthy.

I'd love to be making 300K+ a year, and have the taxes to go with it. I do still pay taxes on my measly earnings, albeit not as much as you. Despite what you may think, there are tons of people here that "don't contribute JACK to the economy" who may disagree with your statement. Like I said, I understand what you're saying, but don't write all of us poor worthless "ignorant" folks off as not doing our part.

In my opinion, anyone who legitimately pays taxes regardless of income level is doing their part. It's the fricken system leaches that siphon off of us that need to be addressed and addressed quickly. They're one of the primary issues breaking the economical back of this country and the problem is only going to get much worse as our prison systems continue to overcrowd and those shitbags are pushed back out onto your streets where they'll knock up more hood-rats and likely produce more "non-productive members of society". This truly is a cancer in our society that is rapidly growing unchecked. Add to it the illegal immigrant influx issues & you can't help but be pessimistic about the outcome. We need some form of flat national sales tax.

The sole taxation of "the so called wealthy" is just not enough to support all of the free loaders much less contribute to the growth of our once great nation. Think about all of the income that's not currently taxed, lots of hookers, drug dealers, strippers, thieves, illegal Mexicans to name a few, all making money in this country & not paying a frickin dime in taxes. If we spread the tax burden via a tax on purchases rather than income I really think there's a chance to turn it around but it needs to be done quickly as I don't think "the man" is going to put up with this shit much longer. I'd even be open to considering a flat national sales tax in addition to a low flat income tax if it came to that, say 10% or so.

I think those with the means to do so (i.e. the true wealthy) will eventually just relocate out of the US if things don't change soon. Many already are, I know Hollywood is not a good gauge for how your typical American family lives but you can't help but notice a lot of the A list stars settling down in Europe & elsewhere. How long before folks with that kind of cash just decide to scratch the US off of the places to live list? Kind of like how we all do about the "bad end of town" per se.

In addition, this talk of taxing big oil and other Corp. tax increases is definitely not the answer either. The US is no longer the big guy in the global market, if big business decides the US is just to costly to operate in we'll really see some issues. Long story short, poor people don't hire people. The US needs to keep it worthwhile for those with money to stay in the US rather then chase them out. Sorry for the rant.

Mid 20's, kid and married, no mortgage. The $800+ that the .gov takes every month doesn't leave me enough for a mortgage. I never said that this system was working. In fact, I went as far to say that I don't think it's fair. I was merely commenting on how just because someone isn't making enough to be paying large amounts of income tax doesn't mean that they don't do anything, and that to assume that our lives are somehow easier because of it isn't accurate.

Ok, you're married....and your combined income is less than $30K?

Everyone starts out tough when first married and in your 20's. We did...and then you work your way up......but even with an income in the $100's life can still be a struggle.

So true, & what happens when there's no longer a hand for the handouts. Katrina & the LA Riots come to mind. Just recently there was a small riot somewhere up north as I recall, the place that issues food stamps couldn't handle all of the people wanting handouts and "urban unrest" ensued. Cops in riot gear had to come out, made national news, don't have the link though. Took place a month or so ago. I'm telling ya, I used to think a lot of the guys here were kind of "off the reservation" with all of the end of days talk but at the rate we're going & with the direction this country is heading in I think it's not just a possibility but likely.

More food for thought, what happens if we have a true economic meltdown and Federal & State employees stop getting checks. Whose left to keep the bad element in check then. I highly doubt the cops are going to work for free. Don't look for bailouts from the Fed as we'll likely have been cut-off from foreign lending by that time due to our bombing credit rating as a country.

Martial Law you say, that's going to be tough seeing how most of our military is spread all over the fricken world. Look at the slow & limited reaction to Katrina, imagine social unrest in all of our big cities with no one to reign in those causing it. There's been multiple times that I can recall Congress holding up on approving funding & the talk of military members not being paid makes the rounds. Happend just a month or so ago as well. What happens when Congress doesn't have the funds to approve because no one will lend it to us. Scary shit if you think about it.

I'm off my soapbox after this one......My wife & I are in the same position and there are many..many more just like us unfortunately. Families like yours & mine that work hard & pay lots of taxes are choosing not to have kids or put it off while the other side of the fence is choosing to do the opposite. You don't have to be a genius to see how this shakes out for the next generation of tax payers/slaves.
