The socialism of the 1960s and 1970s would have absolutely stunned some of you folks who think that it's worse today than ever...

Y'all need to keep history in mind, when making statements about how bad things are today.  Even this hurricane season, has recent precedent, I believe it was 1916.

I can't even imagine the threads that would be here about the Hoover FBI (an earlier era, I know...), if arfcom existed at the same time.

Had the 'net existed then there would very likely have been a civil war and we wouldn't be dealing with all this shit now. We came close then and if not for Reagan it may have still happened. Were Carter re-elected there would have been an economic collapse, we may well have lost the Cold War and the islamists would have walked all over us.

It is worse.  But I am not stunned that many do not see it...........because their math skills suck to the point that there is no longer a need for gravity.

Now, go see how much milk was stolen per actual working govt. cow and redistributed to the leeches in each of those decades and compare them to today's figures.

Since widespread access to the internet, things are changing rapidly!  No longer can BS laws be slipped past us without us knowing what was going on until it was all over.

We are better organized than ever.

It did. It was a circular mailing list with 400 members, each of whom pledged to forward each thread to the next member within ten days of receipt, whether he appended a reply or not. It took 31 weeks for a thread originator to get the replies in a 20-reply post. That's why FDR got as far as he did. There were many more "IBTL" posts then, but less off-topic interthread sniping, because if you made fun of someone, it might be 2 years before you saw his response. Once a thread with a CoC violation made it to a mod, nobody but Mr. Avila knew about the lock, so people often made mass mailings of penny postcards saying things like "The 'Roosevelt should get polio' thread: WTF?"

Doubtful considering if the Soviets won... they'd try to stomp out Islamo-fascism when it rose. They had little fear of stomping out religion.
