Before this scene, three British contractors are taken out by the sniper with the Dragunov. How realistic was it?

it sucks for reality.

the Barrett guy doesn't have a cheek weld, they are way too calm and nice to each other, the soldiers are lacking intensity in the fight, (everyone would be trying to get a piece of the action.

they would be calling for ARTY or CAS, (if they were some super high speed recon guys they wouldn't suck so bad on the .50 and could probably hit those guys with their M4's) the soldier is not behind cover or concealment, the Barrett gut can't hit the target when he's still but he can hit a running head shot()...........hell I could go on for days on that crap...............

That was horrible..

Clean the ammo, the guy didn't even help the other guy..Instead of each person cleaning a round, the one guy just kept handing the other guy a round..

Plus, the last shot looked like .308 brass falling to the ground out of a .50 cal..

That was just plain retarded.

I searched high and low for a theater that was showing it, drove 2 hours each way to go see it. I thought it was pretty good, I can't speak to the realism of the movie though. I usually go to a movie to be entertained, and this one entertained me.

The sniper scene was very un-realistic and all kinds of fucked.

The scene near the end where the three soldiers cowboy off through the alleys to find the bomber as also really un-realistic to the point of idiocy.

The scene where the dude goes into town to find the house the where little kid lives was just

If you are able to ignore those things, the move was really, really good IMO.  Fantastic cinematography and direction, rock solid acting, pretty good pacing.

I love chiming in on threads about this movie.

This movie was the single most retarded piece of shit ever passed off as a realistic war movie.

" In the Army now" with Pauly Shore was a much more accurate portrayal of the modern Army than this complete pile of decomposing wookie turds.

The level of stupid in this movie cannot be measured by modern retard-o-meters. A completely new way of measuring the amount fuckedupedness in a movie had to be developed after this abortion was released.

Everyone involved in the production, distribution, or advertisement of this steaming bucket of smashed assholes should be shot, set on fire, stabbed, anally raped, then shot again.

I did not like this movie.

Not to mention the three of them were alone out in the middle of the bum fuck desert blowing up UXO...The entire movie made it seem like EOD was a three man team that rolled alone and provided their own security once they got where they were going.

Agreed.
Spotter should be stating value adjustments for shooter.
Targets inside single layer cinder block structure are sitting ducks against a .50bmg at 850m.
Retained energy is still about 5K ft. lbs. and should have plowed right into the building interior spraying fragments everywhere.

Shooter has mag feeding issue during engagement.  Jeez, just strip the rounds, clean and hand feed
into chamber instead of an assembly line of bumble f*cking around with "spit and spin".

I thought it was a pretty good movie as far as entertainment goes. It didn't stick to realism a lot but then, it wasn't a true story or anything so I wasn't planning on it being super realistic. The sniper scene was horrible though (blood jamming a gun) and hitting a dude on the run that he couldn't hit while still.

I liked the movie and I bought it. It's entertainment.

its basically a running joke among the EOD community.  there was almost nothing even close to realistic in the film other than the settings, which looked real good.

whenever somebody is about to do something real stupid, we tell them to "slow down there, hurt locker..."

The tactical parts of the movie are, as others have said, utterly ridiculous.

The psychological parts, the main focus of the movie, are spot on. You have no idea how much I could relate to the cereal aisle scene.

I liked it. I figured there was nothing realistic about their tactics, but It did a good job to make you appreciate how difficult the mission is.

I was just happy to watch a war movie where modern day USGI's weren't  raping and killing innocent villagers. Hollywood loves to make Americans the bad guys. I'll bet this director never works again.

so, we have an over-the-top adrenaline junkie team leader who endangers the lives of everyone around him, a senior team member who openly discusses fragging said team leader, and a suicidal junior member whose mind seems to be constantly in danger of splitting apart.  yep, it sure portrays us in a great light...  maybe I should write the director and personally thanks her...

I go to movies to be entertained, but in a film that is about real world events I expect a modicum of realism.  I'm not super picky even, I don't watch movies and bitch that their holsters aren't period correct or the brass is the wrong size, but this one is so completely fucked it isn't even funny.  Its like watching a movie about the Alamo and seeing Davy Crockett pull up on a skateboard.

Ya, settings were pretty good but everything was a JOKE, the way they talked, drinking, smoking inside, wondering around the desert alone, leaving base to chase a kid, coming back on alone saying you "were at a whore house"  WTF???  i saw this director on the Daily Show talking about the movie and how she wanted it to feel real and what not, guess you gave up.  now i'm not looking to see a 100% correct movie which really isn't even possible but the small things like using the correct rank, how they talk to each other, and at least a little bit of tactical reality.  all in all this movie blows and should be taken with a few grains of sand.

The cereal aisle scene is that WTF moment you get when you come back home and realize that even though you have been going 100mph for a year or more nothing has gone anywhere at home.  You feel like you have changed so much and nothing at home has changed at all, but everything is still different and feels unreal.  Or maybe not, I just notice how fat the people are and how many new buildings have gone up in my absence.

Are you trying to learn how to be an l33t EOD operator from that movie?  Dude it was made by hollywood not Magpul.  Let it go and get what enjoyment you can out of it.  Laugh at the stupid parts cheer at the action scenes and then turn it off at the end and be happy that you downloaded it for free instead of paying money for it.

This.  I also remember be blown away by all the color that was around after a couple months of nothing but tans, browns, and light green.  I remember staring at the black boots and dark green pines when we were picked up in Frankfort.
