Had to burn some time today so my friend and I went to the casino. He quickly blew through $5 by the time I came back from taking a piss. We headed to the food court for a bite.

Next we jumped on the 2 cent slot machines outside of the food court. I just feed my second bill into the machine and he came over and told me to up my bet by pushing a few buttons.

So I hit a few buttons and my balance dropped to zero but the machine didn't even move.

With him standing right there watching as my witness.  The machine just wiped by balance out to zero without even spinning the slot rollers.

I don't trust those machines anymore. I meen, what if I had just loaded a couple hundred bucks into it?

There's probably a slot machine in your own house. It's white and made of porcelain.

Just drop your money into it, pull the handle, watch it swirl around and then disappear. Hope that it backs-up and brings moar money up with it.

Your odds are better, anyway.

You went to an establishment whose SOLE PURPOSE is to fuck you over.

You then got fucked over.

No wonder society is the way it is.

That said

I used to work off duty security in a old folk robbery facility casino  and had you contacted a slot tech or any floor employee member of said enterprise and the  facts were as you stated you would have gotten your "play" back ...     the spinning wheels and fancy graphics are but just a random number and the time and generation of those random numbers are shall we say logged

It just saved you the time, you were gonna lose anyways . Next time just burn the $$ in the parking lot then leave, you will have the same outcome

you probably hit max bet and you had fewer credits than the max bet so you have to hit spin after that

I was banned from a casino because of a winning streak!

I played a very strange machine up near the doors.

I put in a dollar and a soda came out. I put a second dollar in and .again a can of soda. Every time the same happened.

After a few minutes I had about two dozen or so of cans of soda at my feet... and then it happened.

Security and some guy in a suit approached me and asked me what I was doing. I looked at them then down... and responded "Duh!!! I am winning!"

The next thing I know I am at the curb!

Whatever you do, do not accept the free watered down booze! They want you drunk and if you suddenly start winning they will ban you from the casino!

+1.

My mom somehow manages to do very well on slot machines... makes zero sense to me.

If I have a few odd minutes to burn sometimes I'll drop a twenty in and cash out quickly if anything hits.  I've gotten two Bellagio buffets paid for like that.  Can't say I've ever won anything to speak of out of them actually trying to play for any amount of time.

I like blackjack and penguins.

Op, you know there's a reason they're called a one armed bandit.

Slot machines get paid to steal your money.

Gambling is for those who have money to give away.

Srsly tho, sounds like you got boned.  Good job.

Wow, lots of misinformation here.  Generally, penny slots allow you to play some absurd amount of coins, usually giving you either more jackpot access on a Multiple machine or offering you strange combinations of lines on a buy machine.  You may have hit max bet and not realized it, the machine took the 50 2 cent bets and waited for you to it Spin.  Not it's fault if you didn't realize it.

Now, as to a true malfunction, yes, call the slot attendant over and the will either get a slot tech or an assistant over there to take a look.  Every pull is recorded and can be called up.  It can be fixed if there is a dispute.  When you press the spin button or max bet or pull the handle, the exact same thing happens, colored lights go nuts, reels spin and it puts on a show.  The show matters not.  When you hit spin, the eeprom sets up what you are going to win and no matter what the colored lights do, that is what is going to happen.  if the eeprom says you had a BAR BAR TRIPLE BAR, that is what you have.

I could get into Virtual reels and all that jazz and the way they can set up the virtual reels to do whatever they want to keep you playing.

Also, the drinks are not watered down.  They come from a gun, just like if you were ordering at the bar.  You are getting gun hooch, but it is true hooch.   They want you drinking and happy as you tend to play more and that is what they want.  Also, the slot floor is designed to get you to play more with where certain types of machines are placed.  It really is an art.

You can trust the machines.  They are all set to an individual Par Value, but it is set in the machine and cannot be changed except by a chip replacement.

Last time I went I won $500 free play within 5 minutes of entering. I wasn't even there to gamble lol. I brought my step daughter there for her 21st birthday to let her have fun blowing through $40. She left with $460

Sorry you got screwed OP. Sounds like it.

As many have said its all logged / recorded , just have to ask

If you understand math its not hard to understand casinos

slots are games of chance with a set payout yes you can sometimes get a lucky random number generated

the longer you play the more you pay

If you enter a casino and play slots in my state if you wagered $1.00 and left with 0.82c YOU HAVE BEAT THE ODDS

If you have money that you don't need by all means have fun gambling  , but a hint they (casinos) don't pay the elect bills by loosing $ :)

I have a question????   Is $5 some sort of code for much larger denominations??

If it is really $5 bucks no wonder you got cheated.

Machine just wanted to you to stop bothering it.

Actually, in most casinos, the par values break down like this;

Nickle slots PV between 84 and 90%
Quarter slots PV between 87-93%
Dollar slots PV between 92-95%
5 dollar slots PV between 94-97%
Higher values get even closer to 100%

So, it is FAR better to take a $5 token and play it through once rather than take the same $5 in nickles and play it through the nickle slots once.

you would have roughly $4.85 or so after the $5 slot and only $4.25 or so after the nickle slot.

This is for state licensed casinos.  Indian casinos are a whole other ball of wax.  They can set their EEPROMs to whatever they think they can get away with.  I have heard of some Nickle slots at Indian Casinos going down into the 70s percentage wise.

State licensed casinos have to meet certain minimums.

It was one of the new "high efficiency" slot machines. Drains your balance to zero without you having to lift a finger.
