The hotel industry.  They were in trouble before the 11th, they are running big time red ink right now.  Look for tens of thousands of more layoffs soon.  Article in USA Today about it.

What's next?  Car rental companies?  Amusement parks?

Folks, I think we could be looking at some serious economic trouble.

We are spending tremendous amounts of money on security (which I feel is still a joke) and our base of people able to pay for it is shrinking with every layoff.

Yes I did, thank you for asking. They shut down two FABs here in Austin. Im in the R&D part of AMD, and they have said they will not touch R&D. But this is the first layoff AMD has had, and they said they would never have a layoff, and well 2300 people will now tell you otherwise. So im here for now.

Vegas is getting hit big time. Hotel reservations are down 50% and conventions are cancelling left and right. All of the big casinos are layoff large portions of staff. I hope Cheetahs doesn't close down.

Well, you can't bring firearms (even hunting rifles in locked cases) into the casino or the hotels. Kind of inherent lack of personal protection.

I do information security for a living, and I have had 3 employment positions this year alone.  I've been looking since I first got laid off in March, and still haven't found anything permanent.  I've been living off short term contracts and odd-jobs as I find them.  I've even been looking for Infosec jobs outside of Houston, TX and I can't find anything other than programming jobs, which I can do, but I'm not nearly good enough to do it professionally.

To all of you experiencing layoffs, I pray you come out ok.  I know it's tough, but the Lord will see you through.  All it takes is a little faith and our continued hard work.

God Bless Texas

Well, I got laid off this morning around 11AM then I got un-laid off at about 1PM.  Oops, it was a mistake in HR.  Huh?  Are you kidding me.

So, I have a job (currently) but don't feel very safe (as you can imagine).

I'm in the software industry which is getting hit pretty hard.

Anyway, it's been a wierd day.

Hey, look on the bright side -- maybe the girls will be so grateful for your presence and tips that they'll give you more personalized attention!

P.S. -- I'd recommend "Little Darlings" instead.

Wife gets laid off next Friday.  Her boss was good enough to let her know.  Was a work from home job and she won't find one of those at that pay anytime soon.  Oh well.  It is going to be tough though.

That last time I went to Little Darlings it was crap. They got rid of the theme dances and the place was empty except for the 2 other guys in the audience. I literally had to pay one of the strippers to get her to leave me the hell alone. I was getting sick of her begging me to get a $100 (yes ONE HUNDRED) dollar private zero contact dance in the back so I bought her a $15 drink, said I had to go the bathroom and never came back. I bailed out of there after about an hour and went over to a packed Cheetahs. The $20 lap dances where they climb on you like a jungle gym was well worth it.

I have been out of work for 2 1/2 months and counting! Woo hoo!

I am thinking of starting up my own web based bidness where people pay me to take on their bad luck. I figure I am so screwed right now, more problems can't possibly bother me.
