It's just a rumor, but it's an interesting one.
I'm not sure how I feel about this. I think I'd rather see the different manufacturers compete, but this may be what it takes for the Subiyota to survive. http://jalopnik.com/rumor-in-order-to-defeat-the-miata-the-toyobaru-will-1714559005 |

Mazda needs to make a hard top Miata.
That's my big draw to the BRZ. |

Just needs moar horsepowers and less prius tires. IMO, it is down on power because Subaru doesn't want it cutting into STI sales. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

I never understood why a company that can put out cars as potent as the STI would put out a sports coupe as underpowered as the BRZ.

Hot looking sports coupes...I expect to do 2 things. 1) Go fast 2) Handle better than sedans. |

I just don't agree with the extremity to which they took it. 300hp and 200ft/lb would be a sweet spot for that car....is achievable and wouldn't hurt the thrashyness of it. Having power doesn't mean I have to use it, but not having power means I can't use it. Edit: I honestly still like the BRZ though. I like everything about it except for the power numbers. |

My 325i comes in at 3,260 lbs, and has just ~180hp/~170tq with the 2.5l I6. Absolute blast to drive. I've loaded 1,000+ lbs in it during a move, and if the difference in apparent power was any indication, having just 2,800 lbs to move would be incredible. A BRZ is looking especially neat in a few years. |

Posted Via AR15.Com Mobile Yeah pretty much. I think they're neat cars but too slow for my tastes. Ditto and I *wanted* to like it to buy it when they came out. Sure, sure you can toss it around but when a Honda minivan can blow your doors off off the light, it leaves a bit to desire. Short little burst of speed is fun and can save your ass from some cluster so I'd rather have the power and not need it. At least the Miata gives you top-down motoring fun and appears to be a much better pkg that the Subuoyta (or whatever.) That car BADLY needs more power, not a ton say about 50-75 more. I get the handling piece for sure but most people don't live close enough to twisties that can really take advantage and then there's the whole saftey issue of doing so. No, not everything has to be 400+ HP monsters but 200 isn't enough IMO and I wouldn't be surprised if the new Eco-boost Mustang and Miata choke out the FRS/BRZ. |

The toyota sienna does it in 7 seconds. But the 6 second range for 0-60 is slow. There are about a bajillion stationwagons, fullsize, and sedans in that range.
