just thinking last night about the civil war, slavery and The Underground Railroad with reguard to immigration. it sucks that we have laws on the books that we refuse to enforce. In Houston they are talking about building buildings so illegal aliens can more easily find work and steal income from American citizens. sure it's work we "don't want to do" but only because the powers that be refuse to pay a living wage to do the job. it use to be that many people took pride in a "craft" and learning a trade. why should a US citizen try to become an electician when a home builder can get 6 illegals for the same price?

Now we have civilians trying to patrol the border when the government refuses to. minimum wage, social security and the healthcare system are just a big joke. it doesn't matter what we do or who we put in office. the situation seems to get worse every year. i can see a war brewing if these issues are not resolved. a rallying cry has been to close the borders.

so if there is another civil war and the federal government again beats the states what will likely happen is the immigrants will join the "union" in exchange for citizenship status and at the end of war there will be no need for citizenship to get a job in the reunified government.

so after this war is over it's likely those who harbored illegalls and worked to undermine US immigration laws will likely become heroes like those who worked in the underground railroad freeing the slaves. it's true you can draw similarities between slaves and illegal aliens. the circumstances are not exactly the same but we have a "class" of people in America who are being exploited.

not true. They are not forced to do anything. They do it because it pays well to them. They do it because they can work for 5 months in the US then take the money back to their country and live like kings for the rest of the year.

Your BS is spread very thick.

Exactly right, the law abiding tax payer is getting exploited.

IMHO the govt has lost ALL moral authority to govern.

Another Civil War would mean the end of this country, so its pointless to hypothesize about what any post-war USA government would look like, immigrants or not immigrants.

Ah, the "living wage" thing again.

So we pay some schlep $15 an hour to pick beans or sweep the floors. Great. Now, does MY wage go from $23 a hour to $40? I'll bet not. It seems that the "living wage" rewards non-skilled, non-schooled workers. There is not much of an incentive to better one's self. SOCIALISM is key to the "living wage".
