The BSE scare has prompted the USDA to ban the use of natural sausage casings from beef cattle.  This is really hitting my family hard since we make sausage on a yearly basis and just finished our annual batch.  Sure, pork casings are nearly the same size but are much thinner and are much weaker in all aspects but odor.

Count sheep casings out as they are very weak and wrong size.  Looks like I might have to go to Mexico for illegal casings.

All because of Canada.  Blame Canada.

Ever try the synthetic sausage casings?

We haven't...but may be doomed to a life of sausage patties :(

Chittlins are fine as they are pork.  Tripas are banned.  Hispanics in panic.

I don't think my family was going to make korv this year, so hopefully the fda will change their mind by next year.
I thought this disease was only transmitted in spinal and brain tissue?

I had 30 lbs of deer sausage made this year and I donated about the same to Hunters against hunger.  I can't believe they let charity organizations donate deer meat not inspected by the USDA
