From my suburbanite foxhole.. I don't think it is a fantasy of theirs, more like...

Poor/no future/boring  vs.  poor/no future/exciting criminal lifestyle

I dont on that issue, as long as they are consenting adults, there on their free will, fine by me, heck if the guy can handle two woman at once, mor epower to him.

What I was referring to in your first post, was the crime and drug abuse issue, as well as the criminal sexual offenders.

As for getting drunk, have at it, I could careless, BUT if you drink and drive, and get cought, dont be bitching about it. And dont bring to the job site.

Yes - I know what the word means.  Thanks

Are you USING it in the context of purely being "different" or are you using it in the context of being "wrong"  - there is a huge difference, since one is purely descriptive, and one carries an inherent moral judgment.

I have no problems with moral judgment.  Is it how we make important decisions in our lives, about how we should behave.   I do have a problem with people who want to impose their moral judgment on other peoples' behavior - and I am always curious about what QUALIFIES a particular person to be that moral arbiter.

I don't care

If someone wants to kill themselves in a ridiculous manner, so what?  Get the crazy people out of the gene pool - what's the problem with that?

If cannibalism is illegal, then the other dude committed a crime, and it is a legal matter.  But why do YOU care?  How does what two crazy people do, that affects nobody else, have any bearing on you?

Suppose that two married people belong to some weird Heinlein-esque new-wave religion, and have mutually decided that if one of them dies first, the other one is going to eat part of their remains.

Where is the harm?  Why do YOU care?

Are you worried that "kids" will read the newspaper and start killing and eating each other?  Are you worried that tons of people are suddenly going to become cannibals?

OF COURSE those two guys are fucked up - everyone agrees with that.

The only question is whether it is somehow our responsiblity to tell people whether or not they are allowed to commit suicide, and what someone may or may not do with a corpse.

What taboos?

Basically everything you have mentioned was a normal practice in a lot of historical times.  Drug use was basically noemal until the early 1900's, orgies and what you would term "deviant" sex have been the norm through many of the ages, and the list goes on and on.

So really you are deviant for thinking all of those things shouldn't be done.

A colleague of mine recently suggested to me that the (apparent) rise in serial killing - which is usually men killing women - has been associated with increasing rights for women, and "liberation"

The more liberated women are, and the more "equal" rights they have, the harder it is for losers to be able to get access to women.  The argument is that few things are more dangerous and violent than frustrated men without access to women.

It's a bit of a stretch, but is consistent with some of the logic of evolutionary psychology.  It's an interesting idea - that feminism and the increasing rights and equality of women is actually de-stabilizing society!

No, because it's ABUSE OF A CORPSE, doen't matter if the person WANTED to die, it's STILL Abuse of a Corpse, and (I'm assuming in Germany) against the law, however had he consented to bein' the "catcher" - sex is NOT against the law (I think in Germany) so THAT would have been okay. Next!

Our society has become desensitized to the of point acceptance. What I fear is what our future holds for our children. We will seem old fashioned and prudish to future generations. It's scary to think how far we've slid morally from even 50 years ago. We tolerate and in some instances encourage what our grandparents wouldn't even talk about.

Drug users addicts have now become victims

Actually, they were seen as that before the Harrison Narcotic Act.  That made them criminals.  NOW we're working our way back around to "victim."  Drug users (and there's a helluva lot more of them than addicts) are seen by one group as criminals, and by themselves as victims of the overly self-righteous.

And I say that as somebody that doesn't even drink.

Sex deviants are see as the norm
The definition of "deviancy" has shifted, for sure.  Oral sex was (and still is, in some locations) considered "sodomy," and was/is punishable by imprisonment.  Then again, out-of-wedlock regular intercourse could get you jailed at one time.  I'm libertarian enough not to give a shit what two-or-more consenting adults want to do, even if it involves wall-to-wall wax paper and a 500lb jar of Vaseline, but anything involving children ought to result in summary execution.

Divorce is simply filing of paper work
But then again, so is marriage.  Getting married used to mean something, and involved actual commitment.  Children cemented that commitment, even if the couple ended up hating each other.  Now they use the kids as weapons against each other.  Very sad.

Criminal life is a fantasy of many due to the popularity of rap.

See:  Prohibition.  Al Capone, et al.

Hard work has been replaced by fast times fast money and idolized
See above.

And so much more.
The more things change....
