Lock the steering head and put a lock through the disk. Unless someone REALLY wants YOUR bike they'll move onto easier pickings.

Or they'll break the steering lock just by twisting the handlebars, not notice the little trigger lock on the rotor, attempt to roll the bike away and then have it suddenly stop and fall over -- and THEN decide to move on to easier pickings.

Hope you have good insurance.

Didn't say it wasn't fool proof. Just one more thing to slow them down. Plus not hiding it they might see it and wonder off before attempting anything.

Full coverage insurance is dirt cheap on a bike. Even in Colorado.

I suppose you could decrease the odds of that happening to some degree by taking a rattle can of flouresent pink/green/yellow to it to increase its visibility. YMMV obviously, as unfettered stupidity runs amuck nowadays.

Best use I've seen for one. It'll sure slow down the grab a go thieves.

They will steal it the same way bikes always get stolen. A van will pull up a couple of beefy guys will jump out, toss your bike in the back and speed away

But I'd do the rotor lock with hopes a casual thief eats dirt stealing your junk

It's true it won't stop someone determined to take the bike. There's not much you can do about them short of a strong chain, a stout tree and an armed guard.

But it should stop a grab and go opportunist. Even if he does drop the bike. Plus it's much easier to find space in your bag like on last week's 1100 mile trip. It's not perfect but it should help. It's definitely giving me a little more peace of mind as I'm getting ready to leave home for a week. And it's more useful on the bike than on some gun.

Best use I've seen too.  Would be kinda funny to watch someone thinking they've scored only to roll forward and eat shit.

Funny as long as it's someone else's bike.

Even if it was mine I'd laugh....right after I finished beating the crap out of the fuckstick

<ETA> I thought the video where the guy is in pursuit of someone who stole his bike on another motorcycle through a neighborhood, gets up close and kicks the tail section of his (stolen) bike causing the thief to lose balance and crash was hilarious.  The damages can get repaired, but the karmic retribution is all worth it IMO

Definitely needs a "remove before flight" flag added.

Shortly after brake locks came into being, we had a shitload of warranty claims for broken caliper brackets, mostly on sportbikes.  Replaced a couple at first, but when one of our salesmen [] fell over in the parking lot because he forgot to remove it, well...no more free shit due to dumbass.

My first thought is this.

They'd never see it, and only when they moved the bike would it make itself noticed. Then the bike would be on its side.

I'd rather rock a real disc lock.

This...run a bright colored string from the lock up to your ignition....
1) bad guys will see it (maybe make them move on)
2) your ass won't be on the ground in about 1.75 s after take off....

I was actually thinking the same thing. I've got some orange flagging tape in my hunting kit.
