Florida can go 360 days a year without a huricane but as soon as one levels a few towns that's all you hear about. 20,000 planes can come and go everyday but let one crash and it's an event. Tens of thousands of illegal aliens can cross the border every night bringing in TB, evola, and leprascy but just let one of them bring a nuke across the border and you'll never hear the end of it.

Television news, and to a lessor extent radio news, is driven by a cycle that causes them to not tell stories any more only to show/tell the basics on most events and give their biased slant to a few of those. There's a show on Discovery TV called "Breaking News" that gives some insite into the decission making process on the news. They do pick and choose which events that they cover and how hard they cover them. We are making huge progress in Iraq but that doesn't fit the mold that the liberals and 85% of the news departments want to put George Bush and the military into. The stories we here from soldiers is 180 degrees different than the one we hear from the liberal press. The more liberal the worse we're doing in Iraq and the less fault it is of the Iraqi people and the more it is our military and GWB.
