Interestingly, I don't believe Amazing Grace was intended for pipes when it was written.

My favorite bagpipe tune is "Black Bear"

I like the piobrached the most. I also like slow airs & jigs a lot. I have my own set of Drumrand pipes, but haven't played in a long time.

Do you play the pipes Beltfedleadhead? I could some lessons.

Yup, that's my gun, my pipes and my kilt.

I'd give lessons, but no one can tell the difference anyhow, so you might as well buy a set and have at it.

ETA: Yes, and my sgian dubh, as well.

No kidding.  Being 1/4 Scottish (McBrane Clan)  my in-laws COMPLETELY surprised my new bride and I at our wedding ceremony by having the pipes lead us from the altar playing 'Scotland The Brave'.  Not ashamed to say I cried a wee bit

Choked up? It's the strong fealing that is put into the tunes. The people that are playing the pipes play them with meaning.

I get choked up because I'm Irish and the pipes somehow make me long for home beleve it or not.
