This is a great amendment. Several states can use this as a blueprint.

I voted yes. I expect it is unenforceable given the size of the federal leviathan (as are the right to farm and the right to digital privacy amendments that I also voted yes on), but I always enjoy standing up for individual and states rights.

Again, let's not direct the entirety of Arfcom to a small public webpage. Yes, it's the primary source and it's updated sooner, but if it goes down, I'm guessing we'll lose the info going to secondary/media sources as well.

STL and KC precincts always wait to turn in their results until the last minute, just to get everyone's hopes up.

They're the ones that are going to make it or break it.

Fixed it.

Looks like they are smart enough to ban violent felons from possession rather than all felons as most states do.

I can think of at least one issue with throwing out the CCW permitting process.

If I'm not mistaken, you need to have a CCW permit from your state in order to carry on school property and other such places, according to federal law.

If you get rid of the permitting process, you get rid of the ability to carry in those places without committing a federal crime.

That is true but nothing says they can't still issue CCW permits even if its not required.

My state allows CCW without a permit, you can still get a permit if you wish to do so.

Can't carry in schools though, it is off limits under state law.

I am wondering if it affects CCW in any way.

By that, if it opens the door for possible constitutional carry.

Since it strikes the language about regulation of CCW being justified.

Oh nice.

I always assumed those states just did away with the permits altogether.

I just googled Arizona's law and it appears they have it set up the same way. AZ members, correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm all for getting rid of the CCW permit requirement in MO, but the permitting should stick around as an option, to allow for carrying in prohibited areas in accordance with the federal law that requires it in those areas.

ETA: Schools, police stations, polling booths, and other such areas are also considered off-limits for carry in Missouri, but carrying there is NOT a criminal offense. You can be asked to leave, or possibly fined in repeat cases. Which means as long as you don't violate the federal "gun free zone" law, by carrying there without a permit, you're fine carrying pretty much anywhere in Missouri.

I think all the states that have changed their law to allow non permit CCW have retained permit system.

That would be Alaska, Arizona, and Wyoming.

Vermont never had it regulated to begin with, so they have never had a permit system. Still don't.
