Sitting here waiting for my new stockset and watching Band of Brothers on DVD.

I don't want to ruffle any feathers but this rifle has to be the coolest of all time. It has it all, history, power, accuracy, reliability, looks. My CMP rifle has some kind of mysitique about it I can't pin down. All I can say is MOJO!!

I added the poll because I am starting to accrue some finacial costs that will leave be broke for a while but want to get one more long gun before I do so, I'm thinking another CMP M1.

I'd second that Valk. The useage/history behind the rifle alone has added the M1 to my wish list. Solidly built, one of those rifles you can say "they don't build them like this anymore"

If you already have a Garand, I'd go with the FAL.

I went with FAL but only cuz I already got a nice M1 and a fine 1903A1.

I went with FAL because I already have an AR and 2 AKs. I like automatics that have a large capacity magazine, so that rules out the bolt gun and M1.

I have 3 Garands and have examples of the others except the AK. Something about that .30-06 push on the shoulder from a M1!

I agree. The M1 has soul. It just feels different to shoulder and fire that rifle. However, I don't have a FAL, YET, so I had to go with that one on the poll.

The AR, but only because I think it more likely that I will continue to be able to find ammo should SHTF occur. It is also extremely light to drag around in the woods, if you need to go mobile...
