When Ireland was struggling for freedom from Great Britain they did some horrendous things. But under British rule, Ireland was a slum; in which rarely did anyone even own a car. Poverty was a way of life into which people where born.

Now in the part of Ireland that was able to free itself, the economy is booming, and the average poor mans car is a BMW. A country in which the average house did not even have a toilet now has a economy that is even stronger then Britain.

Whether the IRA are terrorists or Freedom fighters depends on which side of the muzzle you are...

The same questions apply to the loyalist factions

Anyone who doesn't think the IRA is a terrorist group, needs to look up the definition.

The fight for Freedom and Independence, against a superior, dominating and suppressive "foreign" government shall only be labeled as Terrorism by other Governments who follow the same practice.

Keep in mind the founding fathers of this country were also considered terrorists to the Brits. There is a difference between Terrorists and Freedom fighters. BUT..are Freedom fighters Just Terrorists who's agenda works with the Views of the west? (United States) ie. Nelson Mandela.

Food for thought........Flame on[flame]

My mom is Irish, so that may taint my views, but I personally believe the IRA's activities are most certainly terroristic.  The fact that they choose to kill civilians has no real bearing on whether they are terrorists or not, but it certainly doesn't help their cause.

No they weren't.  Look up the definition.

Of course there is a difference, and NO to your second part.  If you blow up civilians you are a terrorist.  If you fight a tyrannical regime you are a freedom fighter.  Americans were the latter in their war of independence because they didn't blow up citizens.  Why is this so difficult to understand?  The IRA is a terrorist group by definition.
