Wayne LaPierre of the NRA and Rebecca Peters of the U.N. small arms committee, will have a debate on firearms, and firearms freedom in the U.S. The debate is being held in London and will be broadcast internationally on tv (In Demand Pay-Per-View I think). Peters is the woman who was behind the complete gun ban in Australia in the late 90's. Then after the debate, each tv will get a unique password so you can log onto the website an vote for which ever "way you'd like to see America move towards". Then the results of the poll will be sent to the U.S. Congress and the U.N. security council. This sounds extremely interesting and could get heated. October 12 at 9:00. DON'T FORGET TO WATCH THIS AND VOTE.

oh damn... LaPeirre going to debate....

Am I the only one worried that he won't be able to present the case of freedom worth a damn???
Link Posted: 9/19/2004 5:52:26 PM EST
Too bad they couldn't get someone better for our side.
I don't think much of LaPierre in debates.
Link Posted: 9/19/2004 5:52:35 PM EST

America should take in consideration what the un thinks...........why?

I'd feel better about this if Wayne LaPierre was better in an actual debate.

If done RIGHT... it could be a good thing for gun rights on a global scale. If we can present evidence that disarming civilians increases crimes and makes populaces less safe.

It could be a good thing, if we do it right.

Wayne will, in his typical fashion, come out of this looking like a jackass.

Ugh, why him? Why him?
Link Posted: 9/19/2004 6:13:41 PM EST
Why should the internal politics and domestic policy be affected by what a bunch of third world hoodlums think? Who the fuck cares? If they don't like it, tough shit, we are the big dog on the street!

The thing is not if the UN or this debate is relevant, it is important if we bitchslap them in the debate.
Link Posted: 9/19/2004 7:06:42 PM EST
If this turns out to be true, then teh Second Amendment and America are both already dead! In America, we do not base the value or necessity of fundamental rights by taking an opinion poll. The RIGHT to keep and bear arms is protected by the United States Constitution, the supreme document of this land. IT IS NOT OPEN TO DEBATE! Not by Wayne LaPeirre, not by Rebecca Nichols, and not by Larry Craig! There is only one way to remove the right of the people to keep and bear arms from the people of this nation, and that is through a constitutional amendment. But even that does not void the natural god given right of all people every where to arm themselves in defense of their families, their communities and their lives!

The fact that LaPeirre was able to even be sucked into this obvious trap is infuriating!

They blame us for being the world's #1 supplier of small arms...

IMHO, people have money and want guns, the US has been making some of the best guns in the world for the last 50-60 years, why not sell guns to people who want to buy them...

Then again, the UN has never liked capitalisim...

this is a stupid way to vote.. I'm not going to spend money on a cable show tha tI already don't pay for just so I can cast a vote to send to congress.... If anyone thinks that vote is accurate or worth a damn, I'd have questions about their intelligence.

Where do they mention "The Great Gun Debate" and the voting process and sending that information to the US congress?

I'm pretty sure that this is

1. The UN has NO RELEVANCE to the US Constitution... FACT!

2. Wayne LaPierre going International? Stupid Idea. Why dont you just send the Zebra into the Lion's den and explain why he should not be eaten

3. UN does not make up our laws... CONGRESS does. and CONGRESS (should) listen to its constituents.. Not a bunch of Eurotrash or countries that are Socialist.

4. Wayne LaPierre??? WAYNE LAPIERRE??? No... Ted Nugent... If you HAVE TO send someone, dont send in a cub scout to do the job of a Mercenary. Dont get me wrong I like Wayne... but we NEED teeth.

5. If the GREAT GUN DEBATE is to take place, it should be in an AMERICAN forum with AMERICAN lawmakers and AMERICAN debaters.

6. Our founding fathers are ROLLING OVER in their graves... American destiny decided by "PAY PER VIEW" You have GOT TO FUCKING BE KIDDING ME!!

www.thegundebate.com/

It looks as if the password is only needed to view the results of the poll. So there is a possibility anyone will be able to vote on Oct. 12.

Who's going to watch and post the code or the results?

Someone point to me in the Constitution where recognized rights are subject to mob rule? Since when did this country need permission/input from the the rest of the World in regard to our rights? Maybe Australia would care to take input from us? I'm rather miffed that our representative governing body is taking outside input in reference to an internal issue.

Fuck it. I'm not watching and I'm not voting.

The day congress starts acting based on the results of polls taken off of a pay-per-view event is the day that I know America is gone forever.

This is the constitution we are talking about, not a wrestling match or a game show.

hey, we help each other get ready for debates with coworkers, articles in papers and other things like that here on AR15.com

What is stopping us from helping the NRA?

If LaPierre is such a bad debater, why cant we try and help?

We are all in this fight together right? Why do I get the feeling that we think that the NRA is the end all to firearms knowledge and above needing our help?

For all we pay LaPierre he should take some courses in the art of verbal debate....

Craig would be great, although Alan Keyes would freak out the rest of the world, too.

Of yeah, almost forgot

FUCK THE U.N.
