What did you get when you took'em?

Would you do better or worse with the 3 part SAT?

I got 1550

800 Verbal, 750 Math.

I don't think I would have done as well. I suck at essays.

1420

790 Verbal

um...math is hard.  630

Scoring any essay on a mass scale like that is a crapshoot.  The scorers are looking for certain key words or facets, w/o too much attention to the quality of the piece as a whole.

680-650 from 1962, before they dumbed it down about 100 points.  I also took (and passed) the mandatory Subject A essay test for the University of California that determined whether you went to remedial English or a regular class.

720 verbal, ran out of time on most of the math questions and only got 390. I took the new one and think I will do much better.

I don't know.  I was pretty much a hellion in high school.  After that I enlisted.  When ETSed I took a placement test.  The lady that interviewed me sat there for a while and said something like "is says here that you graduated in 1973".

Me,  "Yes".

"Hmmm,  Did you really graduate?"

My first year of college was taking high school all over again.

620 V / 580 M on 3 hours sleep.  I always figured I could re-take the test when I didn't have a hangover.  1200 was good enough to get me into the school I wanted, so I never re-took it.

Taking the MCAT April 16th. Having studied for an eternity and a half for it, the SAT looks like a walk in the park. I will be non-functional on the 17th and morose, at best, on the 18th.

If there was an animated emoticon depicting a tyrannosaurus rex wearing an 'MCAT' cape leaning over to bite some nerdy looking guy in half, I would apply it here --> .

1460, Highest of my graduating class.  I scored this as a Junior, I retook it my senior year thinking I could easily do better.  Ended up with a 1360.

Thank god they send the best one to the colleges you ask it to be sent to.

Scored a 1050 on it with a score of 525 on each part. That was in 1973 in the old days before affirmative action, gender equity, racial bias, and a need to inflate scores. I doubt I could score 600 on todays test.

I don't remember exactly, it was 14xx  1430 sticks in my head. Took it in 1996.

Since this thread is going to be filled with people exaggerating their scores, I'll give my claims some credibility, here's my GRE score:

Still got rejected by MIT, Harvard, and Princeton. Used to be bitter. Now I'm just smug.

There's an analytical part to the GRE?? Dunno, I took the computer-based version a few months ago.

That was the computer based one from Feb-2000.

I about had a seizure while taking it because the center I was at had super shitty monitors that weren't adjusted right so they were at a really low refresh rate. Then they had crappy flickering florescent lights directly overhead.

Yeah, I got tracked through votech math classes in HS, wrongly, and didn't contest it. I only did two years of HS, then community college to finish my degree (HS credit and college credit). I took the SAT1 after I had been out of school for a year, and before I went on Adderall for ADD.

1290 (700 and 590) on the test in 1982.

Hey  red_on_black Don't sweat it.  I scored 31 on the test when I first took it in 1995 (whatever year they did the first Essays) and 30 again in 1999.  Didn't study at all...

Best advice is to RELAX when taking the test.  I have known lots of smart people that freeze up on standardized tests because they freak out about how important they are.

Good luck.

people with low scores really aren't going to post on this.
1330 for me.
As a junior, that was good enough for national merit finalist.
Never bothered taking it as a senior.

I didn't take it; I took the ACT. In the midwest it seems colleges like the ACT vice the SAT.

ETA: Took the Pre-ACT and got a 24. A couple of months later, I took the ACT got a 28. Went into the military. Three years later I was applying to colleges and my ACT score was too old. I figured I would be doing good to get a 24 again, no studying or practice. I scored a 29.

It was good enough to get me into the school I wanted and the program I wanted. Too bad I did have time to study for the math placement test in college. I managed to score high enough to skip college algebra. That wasn't smart on my part, when I took calculus, I understood it fine. I had problems with the algebra to simplify the equations enough to solve them. That's when I found out that engineering was known as "pre-business."
