The student - whose identity has not been released - is currently in the custody of NEISD police. He now faces a long list of charges and will be charged as an adult. View Quote Yet if he were getting after school lessons from a not guilty teacher he would be considered a child. Funny how that works. |

I took a Colt Woodsman Match Target pistol to school for 'Show & Tell' back around 1960.
Those days are hard to fathom in today's fucked culture. |

View Quote I did a "demonstrative speech" in 7th grade with a Colt SP1 & got a good grade. I did get told later by the principal that the SP1 was "different" than the muzzleloader & 1908 that classmates had brought in for other projects & I couldn't bring it back to school, though. ETA: Location was Redmond, Washington, early 1980s. |

I bet even today the boys still bring their deer/duck guns and just leave them in their cars, which are still in the lot.
They hunt before and/or after school. Point is, location location location. |

View Quote yeah we did it (even a few girls hunted) even after columbine happened, even though the school said not to we did anyway. Go hunting before school, ditch a few classes and get out before sundown. Dunno how many kids showed up with blood soaked boots and in camo, i did and no one thought anything of it. One teacher would ask if you got anything and proceed to talk for awhile about others hunting successes or his own, it wasn't uncommon to have a bow brought in so someone could talk it up. Having lived in a town where walking down the street with a rifle on your shoulder was as normal as the seasons. |

It is still used by the extremely professional armies of many "free' countries today. I wonder if proper disposal of the AK will lead to a reduced punishment.

View Quote We used to do it in California in the 70's. Used to be a free state. I would go out jack rabbit hunting with a rifle and shotgun mounted on my motorcycle, no problems with the CHP or anyone else, didn't do the motorcycle and guns at school. |

I carried an SKS in my truck every day from 1996-1998 (sophomore-graduation) without any issue (and parked on campus).

View Quote Some do. I just graduated from HS a few years ago and know several who did. One guy got caught(he thinks the police searched his truck) and they didn't do anything. It may have been a different story had he not been a senior about to graduate though. Rural part of Texas where what you said is right. Hunting before/after school happens. Sad that when my dad was in HS they all came to school with a gun in the gun rack. Now look at where we are. |
