Got tickets as a gift last minute. Never been.

Can you take in bottle water etc?

Any good restaurants nearby?

Would have posted in HTF but short notice, casting widest net possible.

Thanks

ETA: Been reading stadium website but sometimes the 411 from soneone who has been there is better.

It's been many years since my family went to a game there, but we used to take a cooler filled with water and a few sodas.  They checked the cooler for anything contraband (no outside booze, etc.) and they let us through no problem.

Same here.  We used to carry a cooler or picnic basket with food and drinks.  No problem as long as there was no booze.

Thanks guys.

Comin from Plano, I guess I'll go straight down 30 so we'll stop and eat along the way.

It's been years since I've been to MLB game.

My dad made all the steel holding the place up.  If it's green and doesn't get mowed, it came from his place.

Tons of good food and drink around there.  Some of it is in sight of the stadium.

If they see a bulge in your pocket which turns out to be a flask of Makers Mark, they'll tell you to drink it or pour it out.  I learned that one earlier this year.

We used to go to Swamp Daddys or Sherlocks nearby for a couple drinks before the game and take the shuttle over to the ballpark.  It's been a few years since I've done that, so I'm not sure if it still runs the same.

Maybe I'll see you there tonight.  I have not been to a Rangers game since about 1993.  I'll be the guy in a t-shirt and cargo shorts.

You may or may not be wanded at the gate when you go in. Can't CCW there by law but they may check for a knife. It's a long walk back to parking.

Went there last season.  Pretty nice ballpark I thought.  Prices didn't seem outrageous as far as sporting event prices go.

There's a Walmart just down the street from it too if you need anything.

I paid $10 each for mine tonight in the lower level outfield home run section (first base side) row 8.

Take a softside cooler that is small enough to fit under your seat, anything bigger and you cant bring it in.  no glass bottles, no outside alcohol. Can take food or drinks in otherwise. I believe bottles must be sealed, but not positive on that. several restaurants around the area.  Coming from Plano on a Sunday you should be good to take 75 south into downtown and cut west on 30 to the ballpark just follow the signs. You can park on at all 4 sides of park, closest to your seats.

No CCW, but Ive never had a problem carrying my pocket knife in. In fact, got wanded and guy commented how nice my ZT knife was. Arlington PD also maintains a strong presence there. Dont get in a fight in the parking lots, they get there quick. I saw the aftermath of a fight and there were guys cuffed all over the place.

From the website:

Texas Rangers Security Procedures

   Container Policy & Bag Inspections

No metal cans, glass containers or alcoholic beverages may be carried into the ballpark. Only soft-sided, collapsible coolers without plastic inserts are allowed - no hard coolers, backpacks, or oversized bags. All bags and purses must be 16"x16"x8" or smaller and are subject to search by ballpark staff.

Thanks for all the info guys. It came in handy.

Stopped at TxLand&Cattle for steak and bourbon.

We had h20 and Iced Tea and a few snacks. Left knife and gun in truck locked in a mini vault in lockable trunk.

Little bit of a hike to seats but that is expected.

Only made it into 3rd inning before wife had a quasi heat stroke and we had to leave.

It was hot but I guzzled water and tea. Wife isn't a big drinker and paid the price.

We'll go back in the fall.

Once again, thanks for the good info.

Yes complete with live dot race finish from the left field fence to roughly 3rd base area.
