What's the best way to go. 25 year old brick house on a concrete slab in south Alabama. Buying the bond will cost around $1,200. Also which companies do you recommend-which ones to avoid? Thanks, Chris

A termite bond is termite damage insurance.

I have a bond, came with the house, and I recommend one. If you find damage in an inspection, $1,200 will seem like $1.20. Mine is around $120 to renew each year.

$1,200 will by a lot of wood if you do have a problem. I'd say chance it and not spend money on a bond, especially since termites can't damage the outside of your house or the concrete slab. Just make sure the drainage around your house is good and there's no wood within a few inches of the ground, and chances are extremely good that you'll come-out ahead.z
