what do you want to know?

one of our favorite desert areas to shoot is in Maricopa. (mountains off of hidden valley rd)

there are some decent housing developments in the area, and at one time was the best bang for the buck in the phoenix area. (Don't know if this is still the case)

there are indian casinos in the area, you're not too far from Firebird lake for boat races, theres Rawhide (not as good as it used to be)
outlet malls off I-10 / Maricopa Rd

There's probably more hotels either in Chandler or Tempe, still within a reasonable drive to maricopa.

Is it near Winslow?  Saw a really hot chick driving a flatbed Ford there a while back.

Maricopa is like a satellite suburb of phoenix attached to casa grande 1/3 of the way to Tucson.  Don't hear much about things to do there as it is really just a bunch of houses dropped in the middle of nowhere, but as above, there is a good range near there.  Also some good off roading east of there.

Arpaio is the county sheriff for Maricopa County. There is also a town called Maricopa. The county itself is a bit larger than Massachusetts.

May have been Highway Patrol --  25 years ago  --- North bounds on 180 from Spingerville to St. Johns.  In a car with California plates.

it's Arizona, you should definitely bring a pistol, you can OC or CCW - your choice (just not on indian land) - no permit required.

how is the morning commute from Maricopa to baseline? I might get a job opportunity in the south mountain area someday.

The good news is that it is a short drive back to phoenix. They have a harrah's casino and lots of fast food. That's pretty much it. It will probably smell like cowshit as well. Depending on wind...

That would be a poor choice for commuting to baseline. could be up to an hour. Probably 45 minutes on a good day.

Unreported rapes, stabbings and kidnapping all the time. Pretty close to Skinny Dog. Can usually find jars full of mareewana seeds all over the ground under the mesquite trees. A cranked up oven usually has a cooler and higher atmospheric humidity level. I grew up out there.

All in all, I guess it depends on why you want to go. I will say this though, a lone white Yankee won't fit it, nor will the Hispanic population like it.

It's not all that bad.. I live in one of the furthest neighborhoods from town though. Very quiet out in my neck of the woods. The only bad thing is commuting to the Tempe/Phoenix area on the 347.

Hotels: 1. Harrah's Ak-Chin has a nice hotel attached to their casino south of town.

Stuff to do... Hrmm... Casino south of town. They also have a Theater/bowling alley/laser tag place. Other than that, there is pretty much just the normal shopping places. Walmart/Fry's/Bashas supermarket.

The radio shack sells ammo.

Crime hasn't been too bad down here, at least reported. Cops did shoot a dude last night I heard though.

I like it out here because it is quiet, and I can see some of the stars.

My wife hates the commute though, and we'll probably be moving this year to be closer to her Mom in MS.
