b) illegal in NYC anyway
c) if it's really and AK-47, no way he got one in either NYS, NJ, CT or MA
d) just goes to show that as gun as there's guns in circulation, there's no way to prevent these kinds of crimes...
e) it's probably stolen...

I lived in Rockaway Beach as a kid, the local public high school was Beach Channel High School. They have an oceanography/marine biology program.
He probably went to school there
Everyone who goes to that school takes at least one of those courses.
I'm thinking that's how it got spun.

One point to keep in mind-the victim was her only kid. Whether he got himself into this or not, 1. his mom lost her only child and 2. his mom doesn't seem to be the 'more kids=more free money' type.

There's a wide spectrum of people out there. It's never a bad thing to hesitate to jump to a conclusion.
