Police Report Finding Dozens of Knives in Indiana Boy's Room
ASSOCIATED PRESS

MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) -- Police officers found about 50 knives in the bedroom of a 17-year-old boy who cut a girl's throat and hands during an attack at Muncie Central High School, a detective said.

Officers searched the boy's room after Monday's attack, for which the boy faces a juvenile charge of attempted murder. Leigh Ann Vorhees, 16, suffered a four-inch cut across her neck and needed stitches for hand wounds, but she was released from a hospital within hours of being injured.

Police Sgt. Al Williams testified during a court hearing Tuesday that investigators found the knives after the boy's mother consented to a search his room. Delaware Circuit Court Judge Richard Dailey ordered the boy remain in custody.

Prosecutors have said they intend to ask that the case against the teen be moved to adult court, but did not make that request on Tuesday.

Police said the boy, who is autistic, had been excused from class to go to the nurse's office after complaining of stomach pains.

He went into a classroom where Vorhees was working as a teacher's helper but was alone after the teacher left to make copies. Police said he got a tissue, left and then returned and attacked her from behind.

Vorhees, the daughter of Delaware Circuit Court Judge Marianne Vorhees, screamed and fought the boy, wrestling the knife away. A male teacher across the hall from the classroom heard the commotion and grabbed the boy until security guards arrived.

Ban autism!

Welcome to Muncie Central High School.

Shit, three years ago one kid bashed another kid's head in with a claw hammer.

ETA: That incident made national news as well.

How ironic is it that the victims name was "Vorhees."

Wonder if that was the only reason Slasher Jr. was interested in her.

Ban Autism, Its for the children.

The only thing worse than an autistic kid with a knife collection, would be an autistic kid with a pitbull collection.

[spruttering] But... but... that's against the rules, they can't bring knives on school property!!![/sputtering]

Shit, if it's not guns, it's knives, if it's not knives, it's lighter fluid.

Back in the late 80's at my HS, there were two girls that fought over a guy. One of the girls filled up a wax paper cup with lighter fluid, doused the other girls head and set her on fire in the lunch room. I have never ever forgotten that visual.

How does an Autistic kid develop the funds and means of acquiring 50 knives? Anyways, someone's in

deep shit for allowing this to happen. Just a note, it's somewhat strange that the victim's name was

"Vorhees", rather than the attacker's.

Another point for why "special needs" kids should be educated seprately.

Did you guys ever read "The Stand" by Stephen King?

Remember the boy, "Joe," that the Larry Underwood character finds with Lucy Swann? You know, the autistic kid with a knife?

Stephen King freaks me out.
