Can I claim my wife who is not able to work but has not yet been recognized as "disabled" by the federal government as a dependant? She did not work for the entirety of 2005.

Thanks, and yes, I will seek professional advice based on feedback here.

You can claim a spouse as a dependant. Mine is a housewife. She doesn't earn wages but she works her butt off here in our home and I've claimed her for over 27 years.

Interesting development here, Turbo Tax is telling me I cannot claim my spouse. Obviously, more research is needed.

You do not claim a spouse as a dependent.

You file Married Filing Jointly with your spouse. You get two exemptions.

Same result, different terminology.
