good grief

Ten families in England are sharing an astonishing £1million a year in housing benefits, it emerged last night.

The huge sums being lavished on the families by the taxpayer are allowing them to live in streets normally reserved for millionaires.

Five of the families are receiving the maximum payment of £2,000 per week.

It is the first proof that George Osborne was correct when he claimed some households were receiving sums in excess of £100,000 a year.

Last night, the Chancellor told the Daily Mail: ‘It is precisely this kind of shocking waste of public money under the previous Labour government that led to Britain’s debt problems.

‘We are bringing an end to this by putting a cap on the total amount of benefit that a family can receive so the days of £100,000 housing benefit claims are gone.’

The Coalition triggered a furious reaction last year when it unveiled plans to cut the top rate of housing benefit to £400 a week. Chris Bryant, the Labour justice spokesman, said the cuts would lead to ‘social cleansing’, with 200,000 people forced out of the capital.

I'll bet $10 that there are thousands of Section 8 "families" here in the USA living in even nicer places that those welfare bums in England.

The English were once worth admiration.
It has been a long time since then.

The West is likely doomed.

I just dont see how this can be sustained, there or here, much longer. I do think that with some talk of states here trying to get out of paying pension obligations it will sharpen the debate. After all, its kind of hard to tell people who have worked for a muni their entire adult lives you can not pay what you owe them, and on the other hand keeping people that have never worked a day in their lives

If nothing else it may wake up some of the more reasonable people on the left, if there is such a thing.

More proof that liberalism is a mental disorder.

The first step would be to stop white-washing stuff with euphemisms like 'Government Benefits' and call it what it is - welfare, dole, etc.

On a side note, Tennessee gives the welfare leeches free cell phones with minutes and text. I see the commercials every night during the evening news.
