Should the mother be executed for this horrible unjust crime, or should she be allowed the insanity plea and sent out for treatment and jail. Your thoughts? |
|
I would HATE to be on the jury.
I have mixed feelings about this and need much more information to form a final opinion. sgb "May the good Lord accept their souls unto his kingdom and may he provide solace to the remaining bereaved." |
|
I find her actions just incomprehensible.
But then as Paul Harvey says, "If you can understand her (him, them), then we have to wonder about you." I find it hard to believe that postpartum (sp) depression can sink a woman this low. Yes, her father recently passed on and that added to it. But still.. I think, unless the investigators uncover an evil intent, she must be truly insane. |
|
[i]Now I don't wanna get on a rant here...[/i]
Her father passed away....well cry me a damn river. You're an older woman, which means your father was nearing the end of his natural life as it is. If you fall into a depression instead of finding solace from your friends/family, then I am truly sorry. But killing your kids? DROWNING your kids WITH FULL INTENT to kill them? If I ever get that depressed, I'll go smoke dope and shoot heroin - hurting myself is less painful on my soul than hurting others. The woman is a murderer, who deserves to be put to death. The husband is a blind fool, and he would do us all a favor if he decided to put a .45 in her head out of anger for killing his beloved children. This kind of action is intolerable - her husband, the media, and the citizens of America would be doing her a favor by ridding her of her "deep depression" and slapping 200,000 volts through her. [brown]Evil Jewbroni~[/brown] |
|
I am looking at from an outsider point of view. Yes she has a history of depression. Yes it has been proven that she is unstable. Yes she did commit murder. With that given does it merit the death penalty. Ummmmmm.......
If I look at it as me. Yes it does merit the death penalty. "You play, you pay" Irregardless if you were playing a different game than the others. |
|
Insane or Not? we do not know this.
But should the criminally insane be giving the same punishment as regular criminals? this should get this topic rolling... |
|
Let her go free...
That or cement her fucking feet in a block and sinker to the bottom of the lake-let her feel what is like. |

Random thoughts:
1) Thank heavens the Mom didn't do the kids with a gun. Can you imagine the liberal media's hysterical calls for gun control after a mass murder like that? 2) Speaking of mass murder....why isn't the media referring to the Mom as a "mass murderer"? After all she did murder "en masse". 3) Gotta give the Dad all the credit in the world for taking the high road here. He's saying he loves his wife and supports her. I can live with that unless it is proven the Dad brainwashed the Mom into snuffing the kids. 4) I'm hoping Mom's defense at trial is not a story of a group baptism that went terribly wrong. 5) I'm betting that house will be sold and the bathtub is yanked out by the new owners immediately. Of course they will auction it off on E-Bay. Let's see if E-Bay will yank the auction. 6) Mom needs to get the needle. If she gets life instead, the judge should insist on a sterilization procedure. Just think how bad the next bout of post-partum despression would be. She might make McVeigh look like a kid playing with M-80's around a bird's nest. |
|
Like lordtrader I am trying to look at this as a detached outsider.
Now should the insane be given the same punishment as the sane? I think the death penalty should be used more. Mostly as a deterrent. Only the sane will make that connection. The insane will not. So I don't see execution of the insane as a benefit to society. (I hope that doesn't make me a [shudder] liberal.[;)]) I will accept it's application to the insane though. Equal protection = equal prosecution. I just don't, personally, see it as beneficiary. (I sure hope my nomex is on good, this is gonna' get[size=4][red] hot[/red][/size=4] [:D]) |

Yeah, I'm looking at this from an outside standpoint and I still say fry the bitch. I heard on the news this morning that when she was first drowning her oldest boy one of the younger kids came in and saw her and ran and crazy ass bitch momma chased the kid through the house and then drowned him. She must frigging die!!!!!!!

This story bothers me greatly. I mean how can something like this happen? How does one do something like this? Could I just flip out one day and kill my kids? WTF!?!?!
All I can think of is the horror that those children went through. The one person in the world that a child believes they can trust and that loves them unconditionally. The confusion and horror that they must have went through. My God. I pray that the Lord gave those children comfort and solace in those final moments and that they felt no pain or fear. In the end I think that she must die. Not out of revenge. I am not sure why I think that, but I think that it must be so. |

This case should really test the
judicial/mental health establishments. Here you have a mother of five with a well documented mental illness and her doctors did not see any danger to her or her family?? Of course, the lawyers will try to use the insane defense, and, who knows, maybe in this case it truly was legitimate. I, for one, cannot honestly make up my mind at this point on her earthly punishment, I just hope God forgives all involved and that the children are in a better place than Clear Lake, TX. |

IF....that wench was THAT crazy this week, she was THAT crazy last week, and needed locked up then (read accessory charges).....
Her husband is doin the Tammy Wynette 'Stand by your man/woman'...was this a conspiracy between them or is he just flat stupid....? Shove a lightning rod up her a**, and put her in water up to her nostrils (hope we measure that JUST right) in a lightning storm...she had no mercy FOR THE CHILDREN (pun intended)...even chased one through the house..... Her BIGGEST MISTAKE may become doin it in TEXAS, not Kalikommie...the liberal socialist scum would have felt sorry for her and been more understanding....I can EASILY see her doin the McVeigh shuffle in a few years... |
|
Has anyone thought that maybe she was giving them a bath and they accidentally drowned? You never get to hear both sides of the story until the trial.

It was either her or the kids." |

After reading the account of the 7 year old being chased thru the house and dragged to the tub after asking what was wrong with his little sister I can honestly say this is the saddest thing I've ever heard. This bitch should be drowned, it was good enough for her innocent kids.
Also to consider. What kind of idiot leaves his small kids with a known nut case? |
|
She needs to die, plain and simple. I don't care if she is crazy or not, you kill someone with intent, you die.

Probably cried for her mother with her last breath. [:(] |

She's one of those people that are only alive because our society has become a bunch of safety fanatics.
If someone had let her go swimming after a big meal, or let her play with firecrackers when she was little, this may never have happened because there would be a chance that her stupid ass would be dead already, and she wouldn't have had a chance to breed with her stupid husband. This is one of the finest examples of why stupid people should not be allowed to pro-create. Hang her,,,,,, Jay Arizona |

Sorry if I am BLUNT but you folks DON'T have a clue. She was on antidepressants probably PROZAC or something in that family. In EVERY school shooting and LOT'S of other murders 90% of the time they were on these type drugs.
If she killed them with a gun, guns would be evil, not the drugs. Since water was the weapon mmmmmm should we outlaw it??? Common WAKE UP drugs are BIG business, just, these ones are legal. I am not saying these drugs are bad, just that they flow like water and should be better controlled. |
|
I have watched all of the new reports on that woman, and I have not seen one bit of remorse. She hasn't shed a tear, nor has that husband shown what most husbands would show, and that is disdain for the bitch. The husband of susan smith promoted the death penalty. What is going on with this one. Too many questions, but one answer, she needs to pay for the lives that she took with her life.
|
|
I can't stay away from this one. Post partum depression--my ass! The husband admits that he knew of her condition and even talked about the gradual changes in her behavior. WTF did he do about it? I'm sure I'll hear from all the mental health professionals about it.
I see the husband on television and his demeanor is incomprehensible. In his place, I doubt that I would even be able to speak. He has it together to make excuses for his wife's actions and never even mentions his murdered children. I know people handle grief in different ways and at different times, but this is too creepy. |

No "if, ands or buts", fry the bitch. Dad could use an additude ajustment as well.

This kind of shit makes me sick. [puke]
If she was so depressed why didn't she kill herself instead of her defenseless children? There is no excuse for killing an innocent child and her husband, I can't figure him out. Excuse me while I go tell my two little girls how much I love them. |
|
Gonna hug mine too, when I get home. She could have just as easily killed herself instead and spared the children. But the human mind can play some nasty games on the owner. Supposedly, she loved those kids too. When people flip out logic is meaningless. (I'm not defending her actions) While at a range two years ago, a gent came in to shoot his .38 (at shop for waiting period). He wanted to pay up front. He then set up in the middle lane, targets, glasses, ammo, the whole bit...then shot himself in the head! If he wanted me, he could have got me too, just as easily. Or his family.

If it had been a man killing his children, we wouldn't be discussing it.

Next thing you`re going to hear is "she`s a victim"..........[whacko]

If it were my wife the cops would have found one more drowning victom with her head still stuck in the toilet. In the movie "The Crow" Lee has a line that goes somethin like...mother is the word for God spoken from the lips and in the minds of children... I hope she lives in hell for eternity and I don't think as her husband and the father of the children I could stand by her for a second. Messing with children is an unexcuseable and unforgivable crime.

They didn't put her on those drugs to "see what would happen." Next thing you know, her lawyers are going to be suing the drug companies for giving her the drugs that "caused her to kill her children while in a confused state" or something like that. Then they'll sue her doctors for not preventing her from killing her children. They they'll sue the husband because, oh I don't know, maybe he yelled at her once, or watched porn, or didn't like her meatloaf the night before, or maybe he snored. Who knows! This lady killed five... FIVE of her OWN CHILDREN. And she DROWNED them. That would have to take some fucking effort. No one is saying to do away with all the mentally ill people in the world. But you can be DAMN sure that if they kill someone, they should get the same punishment as any other killer. Take Johnny Paul Penry. He was convicted of RAPING and MURDERING Pamela Carpenter in Livingston, Texas back in 1979, and sentenced to die. The Supreme Court threw out his death sentence, and now he gets to stay in prison for the rest of his life, watching cable TV, getting 3 squares a day. All for raping and murdering an innocent woman. Who CARES if he has an IQ of 63 (or whatever they're claiming) He still raped and murdered a woman. Does he deserve to die? Absolutely. Does Andrea Yates deserve to die for drowning her 5 children intentionally? You're goddamn right she does. -Gloftoe |

Guy's; you have no clue.
I hope you never experience anything like this. I hope it never happens to anyone you ever met or meet. I came too close to wearing his shoes. I don't trust psychologists even with PETN cord around their necks. This episode is very painful for me. I have three very wonderful kids and they came close to a similar ignoble end. You need to understand that this woman was sick, but very loved. He trusted her. No shrink ever advised him to "be careful". There are more wrongs here than you see. Maybe now (if I'm lucky); a large number individuals will forgive me for acting the way I did so many years ago. This was my nightmare, I'm so sad, but I got to keep my kids, I'll offer no appologies for my actions. |
|
I agree with Gloftoe
Drowning five kids takes a lot of effort and time. I would have more sympathy if she had snapped and shot them all. That would have only taken a few seconds and [i]might[/i] be seen as a snap decision. However I have a hard time buying she drown five kids in a fit of depression. What does it take, like 20 minutes to drown 5 people? Something is very wrong with this picture. Why did she call 911 right after drowning the last victim? Did she suddenly snap out of her dillusion after the last kid was dead? There is a lot more to this story, I guarantee. Given Dad's strange behavior(personally, I'd be a basket case) there ain't no telling how this will play out. That being said, fry her. For some things there are no excuses. |
|
Obviously the couple will be preparing a lawsuit against the pharmaceutical company that made her anti-depressant medication. [:(!]

I can't understand how a mother can murder her own children. On MSNBC tonight I heard that she did it because "she was a bad mother and thought her children defective because of it".
The father showed no emotion about his children's death in the interview and seemed only concerned that viewers did not blame his loving wife. I also heard that he works at NASA. The father even said "this time she did not seem to be responding to the medicine that had helped her before". He knew she very sick and has claimed that is why he is backing her -it wasn't his real wife that killed them it was the crazy wife. The one he has been living with for the past few months. The one who he left his five children with each day while he went off to work. He knew she was seriously ill and yet he left his children at home with their "sick" mother. He did not kill them, but I don't think he did all that he could have done to safeguard his children. The mother should be drowned to the point of unconsciousness and revived once for each of her five children. Ooopss....lets only revive her four times. |
|
She NEEDS to Die. I think that cruel and unusual punishment should be based upon the crime. She killed five small children so she should die the equivalent of five horrible deaths. Sometimes we need torture, public and painful. And a question needs to be asked about the sanity of the husband not to think she had been acting a little differently. To all the people who think that her death won't bring anyone back, or really help anyone. It sure would make me a happier person. SLOW and PAINFUL!!!!!!

heres something i think everyone missed
she had post-pardum depression which was an affect after her 4th kid, and was on drugs to control this. Then what does she and hubby do NEXT ??? HAVE ANOTHER DAMN KID!!! why in hell did they have a 5th kid which pushed her mental condition over the edge ??? WHY DIDNT THEY GET SOME PERMAMENT BIRTH CONTROL ? why didnt they get a nanny to help with the kids until the women could regain her mental capacity? the husband is an idiot!!! still supports his murdering wife? hes NUTS TOO being that this is in texas, her ass will fry and thank God this didnt happen in kalif or all the bashers would come out of the woodwork |

6 mos, 2 yr, 3 yr, 5 yr, 7 years old, all babies.
If ever there was a time that I could cry in private over 'strangers', it is now. This event really disturbed me and trying to make sense of it where it is not possible. Personally, I think these two "parents" are part of some religion or cult in fanatical fashion. [Clues: this IS Texas; check the kids' names] This may shed some light on her cold calculated actions (her kids not worthy of her gods?); and the "father's" unnatural behavior. He appears to me like he's engaged in a high intensity deep-religious unconditional forgiveness binge, at the very least--like I've been so sickened to see many times in my life. Pathetic. Maybe they formed a pact. I think this all goes beyond the prescription drugs, even though I am suspicious of pshychotropic drugs also. What I do know is that somewhere in those deep dark recesses of her soul there will forever lay the disturbing evidence to indict her before the Almighty Judge again and again. I'd hate to sit on the jury for this one---not for been forced to pass ultimate judgment--but for having to see the photos and hear the horrible details of the crimes firsthand. This I may not be able to handle. Ask yourselves this: Can there EVER be a time where a mentally ill person is worthy of execution?? Somehow, there has to be. For the children, at least. From somewhere justice has to come. Life demands no less than that. You can bet that the plea is going to be not guilty insanity by reason of temporary psychosis/dementia. and these five little kids will be written off as collateral damage. This is going to get interesting. |
