For those of you who say it doesn't pay to drink heavily. If you purchased $1,000 shares in Delta Airlines one year ago, you would have $49.00 today!
$1,000 shares in AIG, you would have $33.00.
$1,000 shares in Lehman Brothers, you would have $0.00 today.
But, if you purchased $1,000 worth of beer, drank all the beer, turned in the aluminum cans for recycling, you would have $214.00.

Therefore the best current investment plan is to drink heavily & recycle. It is called the 401-Keg Plan.

you bought an sp500 index fund, you would have 1201$ minus small fees if you get the right one...(investing in the stock market is for a long term investment)

i give the joke a 5/10...kinda funny.

You still own the same % of Delta that you owned before.  If they start doing better the value will come back.

People always panic and sell at a time like this and someone else buys it up cheap and makes $$$.

..and don't forget you will have just pissed away ur kidney stone problem instead of just pissing away money!

ETA:  I am holding on to the funds I have in my 401, meager as it is, to ride this out.  I hope I don't ride it into the ground.  We'll see.  Its only part of my retirement money but I hate to lose it.  I have it spread as best I can and I'm not looking at it this week........at all.

Somebody refuted this a while ago...

In reality, buying the beer was the worst option.

The amount of money you get back from the cans doesn't even make sense.  $214 @ 5 cents/can = 4280 cans.... for $1000, where are you finding beer that's 23 cents/can, or 18 cents/can before deposit???

If the return deposit on a can is five cents, $214 is 4,280 cans.

Including the initial deposit, if you only had one thousand dollars, each can would have to cost 23 cents.
Less the deposit (i.e. sticker price), and assuming there is no sales tax, each can would need to cost 18 cents.

Now, riddle me this, Batman.  What beer can you buy for 18 cents a can?

I looked up Delta's stock value.  It was about $14 a year ago.  It is about $6 now.

How do you get $1000 turning into $49?

Uptight ass is, well, you know the rest.

Notice:  I'm not calling you an ass.  I'm merely saying that someone, somewhere in this thread that is supposed to be funny, is being an uptight ass.

So, 21.4% of the cost of beer can be recouped by recycling the aluminum cans???
