ABOUT DAMN TIME! Updating to Windows XP SP2 was the best thing I've ever done for my computer. Until now, my computer had been infected by numerous spyware, that was beyond repair. (believe me I tried EVERYTHING)
Now she's working like a dream. For the first time ever, I have no regrets about using windows update.
I can FINIALLY use internet explorer again! I thought I pass this along to anyone who has the same troubles.
Yay!

Try Adaware and spybot software. Both are good, both are free, and together they truely kick ass on spyware.

Oh yea.... quit looking at porn.

Download your porn on a speerate HD, burn to DVDs then format that drive.

Most of the stuff Adaware says it removes is Temp internet files

You think that was good, wait until you see SP 2.00000000000000001a!

I was VERY happy with ADAWARE.....much better than Spy Hunter and a hell of a lot faster. Though since I have both, I run both. I have found that learning how to identify the different files that are viruses or Trojan horses is helpful so you can delete them from your system youself...it's not as mysterious as I thought....

now I just have to spend the next resto of my life learning how to identify this shit.

Ok where are you getting the Spyware from?

I dont get it, last 2 times I did was from the other parition I was letting someone use for downloading.

I formatted have had no problems for over a month

if you stay away from the porno sites and lock outlook / outlook express (whichever you use) down (turn off the "preview pane" IMMEDIETLY) you'll have less of a problem with spyware

I have an AMD processor, and SP2 was killing my performance so I had to uninstall it. It's a known problem. Otherwise it was a great upgrade.

Anyone can use the free Adware service to remove 99% of the spyware out there.

I thought that sp2 was the best thing since sliced bread until a week ago when I clicked on a link on EHOWA.com. Yeah, noticed my hdd activity skyrocket and next think i knew I was loaded up with spyware. It did not block and it did not ask if this program has permission to run. Don't trust the system to keep you safe, use good browsing habits and use mozilla when going to dangerous websites.

Not using Internet Explorer will work wonders for spyware as well. Firefox rocks...and nary a pop up or bit of spyware in sight, even after hours of surfing porn lol.

+1 on GNU/Linux. I haven't had to worry about nasty e-mail attachments since 1997. Edit: Or regular viruses, or spyware, or Microsoft software...

OS X!

Let's not have all the Unix variants fighting now. As long as it isn't Microsoft, you're safe. I've never had spyware or viruses or any of that stuff on any of my Macs.
