Picked up the first season on DVD for 10 bucks at target awhile back. Thought it was pretty interesting, though it did have some annoying reality-show drama to it. Actually still need to see the last two episodes, now that I think about. It is still packed away somewhere from my recent relocation.
It seems like they created a fairly believable setting but then I remember there must be cameras around everywhere. Not even discrete or hidden since they move alongside the actors quite smoothly. Once I think of that, it is hard for me to think that the people are able to take it seriously.
I liked the idea but I after more thought, I think its execution could be better.
ETA: There needs to be something at risk for the participants. Maybe not life or limb but something like the money they get for being on the show. If they don't survive for the 10 weeks, no $$. As an audience, i knew the hostiles could not hurt them, i knew the network would not let any fatal damage via accident (like the gassifier) happen, and with the cameras around, I couldn't even reasonably believe that the survivors believed it themselves.
Nevertheless, still more interesting than most of the stuff on the tube.
