999

do away with the IRS

flat tax

fair tax

We have a bunch of candidates saying they support this.

but is it just wishful thinking on our part this would ever happen?

I can't see us ever disbanding the IRS.

The government loses too much power over us.

Not only lost power, but there is a whole economy of accountants out there that would be out of work if they made things easy.

"They" literally bank on the fact that the tax code in confusing as all hell. Both Public and Private sector enjoy the fucked up system. God forbid if you're a productive citizen or own a small company, where it sucks.

It's all bullshit.

So why do we always fall for the hype when a new election rolls around?

if we lcted someone who ran on it they might try it.  We would probably need a fucking super majority to get it done though. No way democrats are going to allow any sort of fair taxation if they can stop it.

I think the 999 has no hope of making it through Congress.  I do think it may be possible with the right COngress to make some steps in the direction of reasonable reform, but the 999 is highly ambitious.

Who knows, though.  Stranger things have happened.

I would be impressed if we could get a guy in office to reverse a few EOs on surplus ammo/guns. Completely reform the US tax code?

As much as I like the idea of the Fairtax, it'll never happen. Too many hands in the cookie jar.

It's gonna take a whole hell of a lot more to get it done than just electing one president.

That tax code was bought and paid for and it was very expensive for those who got what they wanted.

That kinda change only comes one way.

There are not enough of us to get the people necessary in place.  Face it, libertarian minded people are a small minority.

Even a lot of conservatives don't like libertarians. And liberals lump libertarians in with conservatives. Red headed step-children, the whole lot of us.

We used to think that commie forced health care couldn't happen either.

I'm in for the try to implement the 999 plan.

So am I.  I just won't be surprised when it fails.

Apples and rocking chairs

Obamacare transfers more money and power to .gov. Power hungry politicians are all too happy to oblige.

Tax code revision does the opposite. Government NEVER relinquishes power willingly.

OUr government is run by millionaires, who are financed and owned by multimillionaires.

while they may tinker at the edges, most are looking to pull the drawbridge up to preserve their dominant wealth for generations to come.

a "flat" tax is anathema to the uberwealthy.

plus the accountants are still needed and many of the government employees.  Even with a fair tax it takes manpower to collect it and do the math.
