 What would "O" do if 10's of thousandsof us surrounded the white house throwing stones? I bet the same thing would would be dished out to us. |

NPR had an interview with a guy inside of the Syrian city of Daraa, claims that one army division has sided with the protestors and is in combat against a loyalist division. Zero evidence, though, fair chance of wishful thinking or propaganda: "The army's 5th division has joined with the people, unlike the 4th division...the 5th division and the 4th division are exchanging bullets with each other, the 5th division is protecting the people. Massacres are happening, catastrophic massacres"
No confirmation that I'm aware of. |

Yeah, I'm sure the Muslim Brotherhood would be much friendlier with Israel. These folks are rebelling because the Ba'athist Party is too secular, they're not rebelling in hopes of creating a modern western democracy where they can all be free and watch American Idol.  At any rate, Israel's problems aren't ours, and vice versa. I'm following it, but I really hope our country doesn't get involved as it has in Libya. |

I fear that he would be replaced by an individual or a group more closely aligned with Islamists. Even if they/we dodge the Islamist bullet, the new party that rises to power will be desperate for a strong power base, and that base may very well be Iran. I do not have high hopes for Syria, nor do I have much emotional wherewithall to offer the folks that get mowed down. They are tainted by a barbaric and archaic mindset, and they have nothing to offer the world except chaos and vitriol. The only positive outcome would be if the people of Iran rise up and become the next domino. - BG |
