Has anyone been hassled over a small flashlight before? I didn't know if I should check my G2 into baggage or if I could take it in my carry-on.

I carry mine on. 6p or one of my LEDs.
Link Posted: 8/13/2007 2:08:45 PM EDT
I have traveled with a Surefire L4 or U2 for several years now. Not once was I ever even asked about it. The xray can see right through the aluminum body so they know it contains batteries.

Tomorrow I am going to be flying to Copenhagen, Denmark and I am positive that I will not loose my two Fenix lights that I will have with me in my back pack.

Last three flights I have my E2d in carryon and it has not been an issue.

E2E's and G2's all the time. As a matter of fact you can now take lighters back on the plane.

So yes fire is back on the plane.

Good to know, I'm still checking the 9p in baggage just in case, don't even want to risk losing that thing.
Link Posted: 8/13/2007 2:15:14 PM EDT
All the time, everything from E2Ds and 6PDs to M3s.

I went on a Casino cruise in Flordia last year. They took my Streamlight Twin-Task on me . The foreign "rent a JBT" was like "Why do you need to take a flashlight with you" I was like "I always carry a flash light". He gave me a funny look, gave me a claim ticket and said I can have it back when I return to port.

Yet for some reason they let me keep my "evil black" key-mate and my PDA/Phone which also has a built in light. . They were in the same bucket wit the Twin-task.

When the cruise was over, I did get my light back and boy did me and my friend make the rent a JBT feel like an ass.

I didn't know that! I will start keeping a couple of lighters in my GHB that I keep in my checked luggage. No reason for me to carry one on the plane itself. Finally, they got their heads out of their butts on that one!

I did a check at the court house the other day for the hell of it.

No E2D's allowed. Nor are cell phones. Or OC spray. As a matter of fact I didn't have anything with me I could carry inside. Good thing I left my holster & pistola in the car.

I almost got arrested at the Frankfurt airport in Germany for carrying "weapons parts". Nothing that actually belonged to a gun, just an ACOG, Leupold Mk 4, and the above mentioned M900..... I also had some Leica binos and a laser rangefinder... All expensive glass I wanted to hand carry but they made me check it....Fuckin krauts!

Is this light one of the Malice Green Signature Series?

Even after I got out of the Army and was living in Germany, I was never hassled by German Customs when I traveled with a issue green duffle bag.

You won't have any problems. They don't even give mine a second look. Hell, it'll be safer in your carry-on than in your luggage (could get stolen out of your suitcase).

The boxes Surefire uses to ship are marked CONTAINS LITHIUM BATTERIES: NOT FOR AIR TRANSPORT or something like that in bold red print.

Maybe they are hazardous with a pressure loss?

This thread is great . Even with out learning what you can and can't take on a plane .

You stand a better chance of loosing it that way
Some TSA guy will be sporting his "new" 9p soon

Just got my L2D yesterday. VERY happy with it! 135 lumens of AA flashlight goodness. And the strobe's cool too (though I doubt I'll ever use it). A very nice light for $58.

I am sitting in Newark NJ as I post this and I had no troubles as usual. They are in my back pack next to me. I have the L1d and L2d and they are both awesome. I also bought the L0D, P2d, and P3d. All cree versions. They kick ass in a big way. Great for the price.

Again, it'll be safer in your carry-on.
