Well in the past few years, a lot of the state legislatures and even the Congress has passed laws of dubious valid constitutionality. But the legislator's attitude if it invalid, let the courts tell us. Mike Roos of the Roberti/Roos Calif. AW ban of '89 fame,  was asked, "isn't this unconstitutional?" and his reply was something like "I don't care, we're banning assult weapons."
