Would love to have one just to have it sitting around.
But......I don't foresee me buying one to use. Different game cartridges and all that. Still a badass piece of gaming history to have  Pure Japanese awesomeness, Star Ocean and Tales of Phantasia!

if you look at their games, like Super Mario World, Super Mario Kart, Donkey Kong they can usually be had for under $15. There's some Japanese, but who needs translations to play SMW?
Yeah I've just been hunting for one boxed to sit on the wall in my man cave along with my other consoles.

The Neo Geo CD is the only system I know with no region locking, which is pretty cool, even though the system didn't do well.

Get Retron 5
  I have an older Retron 3 and it plays my NES, SNES, and Genesis games and all the original controllers work great with it.

Have been thinking about building a Retro system with Rasberrypi B+.
Just curious if those retro USB controllers will work with it or not. |

Playing Dragon Quest V (Super famicom version) with an IPS translation. YES THE RETRON WILL PLAY ENGLISH TRANSLATION PATCH FILES FOR YOUR FAMICOM GAMES.

For instance, the Famicom version of Star Wars was made by Namco. I believe the NES version of Star Wars was done by Lucas Arts. Namco paid a licensing fee to release their screwball Star Wars game to the Japanese market. I guess they wouldn't have paid for those royalties if they had to compete against the slightly less crappy US version. |
