I believe we are looking at being in the middle of a civil war if we dont watch out.

Im not saying we shouldnt be there and all that BS. I am just hoping that we dont get stuck in the middle of a worse situation.

What are yalls thoughts...

Im just making my prediction and putting it out on the table:

The current attacks on Iraqi civilians could be seen as an ongoing civil war between Sunnis and Shiites, since Al Quaeda is mostly Sunni IIRC.

Yep...

His call is just a little late there has been a civil war going on in Iraq for 18+ months. If the Sunnis keep it up it is going to go bad for them.

This sounds like a win-win situation to me. Now we just pull back, sell them inferior weapons systems with short shelf lives and let them decide which caliph was the rightful successor to Muhammed.

Just like to point out here that people have been warning that civil war will breakout in Iraq since 1990 - and it hasn't.

Some get their nipples hard over the prospect of dead muslims - great - whatever floats your boat.

But the fact of the matter is: GWB and the US military are not at war with Islam - we are in a war within Islam.

"Someday this war is gonna end..."

More or less depends upon the part of the country you're in (I guess that's typical of most civil wars).
I heard on the news a feature about the fact that for the past few months in Baghdad, appox. 1,000 to 1,200 bodies have been coming into the ciy morgue EACH month! There are a variety of causes, but the biggest cause is interpreted to be Sunni on Shi'a violence. Baghdad, no question about it is in a state of full blown civil war.

It took a civil war in the US to get things straightened out. Let them fight it out.

Just as Tito kept the Balkans under control after centuries of in-fighting, Sadaam Hussein's irn fisted rule of his own people kept them in check as well.

I just finished reading this biography about Sadaam Hussein.

Major civil war is all but a foregone conclusion.

Sad, but true.
Interestingly, there is apparently no word in the Arabic language for "compromise".
Saddam's thugs/secret police kept the lid on things for several decades. By some analyses, Iraq is way over due for a civil war. There may be no stopping it.

Sunnis are learning the hard way about democracy. They told their people not to vote in the January elections. Now they have little representation in the new assembly. Many Sunni are pissed they dont have a voice, well duh.....
